What Are The Chances Of Implosion Had Covid-19 Hit Nigeria Like it Did Many Western States?

The Covid-19 pandemic is one of the reasons why people have become more financially aware. Nigeria as a country is not financially prepared should an even deadlier virus hits African the same way it has hit many foreign continents and many more civilized Countries. I personally feel that if Covid-19 had hit Nigeria the way it hit maybe the US or England.

A huge percentage of the population will die, the state will become lawless, there will be looting of properties and at one point in time fiat currency will become useless because what gives value to money is of course, the availability of resources. If other countries shut their airspace or maybe shuts their water space, importation will be difficult. Remember I mentioned that there will be looting. This means that the resources at hand maybe in the malls or in the shops, even farmlands will be looted

This chaos will further spread the virus, but of course many would rather die of it (the virus) than die of hunger. It is however only a theoretical stance. Had it been that the virus hits Nigeria and for an even longer period. Truth is, the pandemic should bring awareness to the Nigerian government about how important it is for people to be isolated in their houses for a long period of time and still feed well, live well and to conduct their businesses.

The importance of virtuality, promotion of subsistence farming and spending money on educating people on how to run their business online should have been a priority as well, this is because these preparations are what will ensure survival should Covid-19 2.0 hits.

The truth is that the country is on the cusp of financial capitulation. One of the reasons why people make money is to take care of financial emergencies, while the government is currently focused on oil and the billions they'll generate in comparison with other oil exporting countries.

They have failed to realize that investing more in mechanized and sophisticated farming in a large sale and storage of food in large quantities will help in a period of war, pandemic or any disaster that will prevent people from moving freely. Thailand for example stores rice in silos and keeps them for the purpose of consumption in a case of emergency, and it's this stored rice that is sold to Nigeria when they're aiming to important.

Nigeria's inability to mechanize the production of rice is why their rice production is pathetic and hardly dependable. Another thing is taking away monopoly. Dangote is probably one amongst the two or three producers in Nigeria that is given the monopoly to produce cement and sugar, this has actually made the planting of sugarcane almost dead in the country. In times of emergencies, people who have monopoly of production of rare goods and services will exploit people.

No matter the situation, when there's excessive demand and limited supply there's bound to be an increase in prices, artificial scarcity will be created to further exploit people and instead of taking care of people, the ones who have the commodities and resources will continue taking from people who have neither. This is why the cost of cement has increased right after the easing of the lockdown.

Another thing is that a lot of people in Nigeria depend on daily sales to make a living. Online sales in Nigeria are in its intermediate level and probably expensive to an extent. The government should promote virtuality. A borderless market where people can meet and purchase and have it delivered to them. This will even reduce overpopulation and when there are less interactions of numerous people in a particular place at one or more point in time there's more safety and less contraction of probably a virus like Covid-19.

The government are not making these preparations and this is why more people are deciding to make their own plans, owning a physical real-time business doesn't bring a guarantee anymore and this is why the adoption of crypto has increased in 2021 especially in Nigeria. Crypto creates borderless wealth due to the fact that it's not centralized or dependent on variables like Covid-19, but then this isn't enough. In my next post, I'll talk about why crypto adoption can become successful and Nigeria can still implode.
