October Side-Gig Month - LBI Giveaway!
Yes, it's here - we love saving money and we like making money even more! Every Saturday for 5 Saturdays, we're going to look at opportunities to earn a little on the side that don't require qualifications or a huge outlay in capital. Last week, we had great a great idea from @phoenixwren about petsitting and @missaj started a side-hustle! Check your wallets for an extra LBI!
This week we are going to look at the opportunity to sell time! We had this great idea last week from @phoenixwren:
I will add to the skills list of suggestions, pet sitting. I'm the resident pet sitter for people in my building; I've watched over cats and birds while their people were away, and taken a dog for walks when their person was staying late at work or school. This has generally been a positive experience except for one lady who had eleven birds loose in her apartment. I don't have a problem with birds; I watched over one for another neighbor who was one bird and had a cage. But this lady's birds would dive bomb your head because you were a stranger in their home (and not just me, they did it to the super too, apparently). Eventually I stopped agreeing to watch them because it was like going in to Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, and the lady would call me about five times a day asking about them. I do have limits. 😂 But otherwise, animals get taken care of, I earn a little extra cash, and neighbors are able to take their vacations with their animals safe at home, so it's a win-win-win. :)
Here's a few other ideas:
- house-sitting - like pet-sitting and sometimes combined, house-sitting is a great way to earn some extra pennies while friends and family are away. You might also get a free holiday, too!
- dog-walking - adding to the pet-sitting theme, dog-walking is another great side-hustle plus good for your health and well-being and you can post the steps to actifit - yay!
How about this one:
- in-home companion - this is where you provide some additional support to an elderly person living independently. You might pop round for a cup of tea and a chat to check they are okay and provide some company, or exchange library books or do a little shopping for them.

Wednesday Wellbeing Club

More about EDS tokens
EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.
Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 23%.

1. Check Progress
Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 16 October, was 20.02p. Next week, we'll be saving 20.51p and by Saturday we'll have saved 438.31p (that's 43,831p just compounding a penny a day)! 😁.
Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.
Here's this week's results - 20.02p buys 25.90 Hive.
940 Hive powered up in 42 weeks and the remainder invested in EDS and EDSM! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, 20% on EDSM, 23% on EDS tokens and a little on curating and posting!
