En este post les traigo la reseña de una película que me llamó mucho la atención luego de ver el trailer; un drama policial con Bruce Willis y Megan Fox como protagonistas, me pareció bastante interesante y decidí darle una oportunidad. Midnight in the Switchgrass es una película dirigida por el americano Randall Emmet (el mismo productor de The Irishman o Silence) estrenada a finales de julio de 2021. En esta película tenemos dos estrellas muy reconocidas en los papeles principales como lo son Bruce Willis y Megan Fox, quienes interpretan a Karl Helter y Rebecca Lombardi, respectivamente, dos agentes del FBI que están tras la pista de un asesino serial que abusa de mujeres y las asesina, para luego dejarlas botadas en zonas cercanas a autopistas de Pensacola, Florida. En su búsqueda, se topan con el agente Byron Crawford (interpretado por Emile Hirsch) quien quiere atrapar a este asesino a como de lugar.
Midnight in the Switchgrass is a film directed by the American Randall Emmet (the same producer of The Irishman or Silence) released at the end of July 2021. In this film we have two very recognized stars in the main roles such as Bruce Willis and Megan Fox, who play Karl Helter and Rebecca Lombardi, respectively, two FBI agents who are on the trail of a serial killer who abuses and murders women, and then dumps them in areas near freeways in Pensacola, Florida. In their search, they run into agent Byron Crawford (played by Emile Hirsch) who wants to catch this murderer at all costs.

Rebecca ha intentado en más de una ocasión encontrarse con el asesino para atraparlo, pero diversas situaciones han dificultado el encuentro y con la esperanza casi perdida, hace un último intento, esta vez sin el respaldo de Karl pero con la ayuda de Byron, quien le prometió a la madre de una de las últimas víctimas que volvería a visitarla con la noticia de que habían atrapado al asesino de su niña.
Rebecca has tried on more than one occasion to meet the murderer to catch him, but various situations have made the encounter difficult and with almost lost hope, she makes one last attempt, this time without Karl's support but with the help of Byron, who He promised the mother of one of the latest victims that he would visit her again with the news that her daughter's murderer had been caught.

🗣 Opiniones/Opinions 🗣
Sin entrar en más detalles sobre la película, pasaré a hablar un poco sobre su historia, el desarrollo de los personajes, la ambientación y otros detalles que pueden consagrar o condenar a una película. En primer lugar, tenemos la historia: hasta el día de hoy, el recurso de hacer películas basadas un asesino serial cuyo blanco predilecto son mujeres jóvenes, está muy trillado pero generalamente es exitoso gracias al manejo de los personajes, historia del asesino y otros factores que adornan la producción. En este caso, no es así; tenemos una película de muy lento desarrollo lo que la vuelve muy aburrida, los únicos minutos interesantes son los últimos 15 porque es el desenlace.
Without going into more detail about the movie, I'll go on to talk a bit about its story, character development, setting, and other details that can either consecrate or condemn a movie. First of all, we have the story: to this day, the resource of making films based on a serial killer whose favorite target are young women, is very trite but generally successful thanks to the handling of the characters, the killer's story and other factors that improve the production. In this case, it is not so; we have a film with a very slow development, which makes it very boring, the only interesting minutes are the last 15 because it is the end.

Poco vemos de Pensacola, ya que hay muy pocas tomas que nos permitan ver dónde se desarrollan los hechos. Algo que puedo decir a favor de la película es que la actuación de Luke Haas como el asesino serial es excelente, ya que pasa en segundos de tener una sonrisa cálida para su hija, a una sonrisa morbosa y enferma para sus victimas. Bruce Willis no parece protagonista, ya que el 95% del tiempo está en segundo plano, y la verdad no soy fan de cómo actúa Megan Fox porque su cara se mantiene inexpresiva la mayoría del tiempo y eso le resta mucho a su papel. Emile interpretando a Byron también hace su parte bien, pero a todos les faltó un mejor guión para poder dar una mejor puesta en escena.
We see little of Pensacola, since there are very few shots that allow us to see where the events unfold. One thing I can say in favor of the film is that Luke Haas's performance as the serial killer is excellent, as he goes in seconds from having a warm smile for his daughter, to a morbid and sick smile for his victims. Bruce Willis does not seem to be the protagonist, since 95% of the time he is in the background, and I am not really a fan of how Megan Fox acts because her face remains expressionless most of the time and that takes away a lot from her role. Emile playing Byron also does his part well, but they all lacked a better script to be able to give a better staging.

Definitivamente esta película pudo ser muchísimo mejor si al menos nos daban un poco más de conocimiento sobre el asesino... Cuándo empezó, por qué inició, cuántas víctimas tenía hasta el momento, qué le activa el deseo de asesinar, porque no sabemos nada de eso y solo lo vemos actuar en un par de ocasiones y ya.
Definitely this movie could be much better if at least they gave us a little more knowledge about the murderer ... When did it start, why did it start, how many victims did it have so far, what triggers the desire to murder, because we don't know anything about that and we only see him act a couple of times and that's it.

🗣 Comentarios finales/Final comments 🗣
En general, me pareció una mala película. No es entretenida, no te engancha, no te hace querer ver más y el pecado más grande es que no es interesante. Si está en tu radar y está indeciso sobre si verla o no, te recomiendo que no lo hagas. No con esto quiero decir que los actores hayan hecho mal su trabajo, sino que la dirección, producción y el guión no estuvieron a la altura. Tomaron un tema que si bien está muy utilizado, siempre se le puede dar un giro para hacerlo más interesante y crear una película de calidad. Aaah, algo que me dio risa es que hay escenas recicladas dentro de la película. Hay una parte donde Byron entra a un club y hay un loop con cada vistazo que se nos quiere dar dentro del bar, y vemos pasar a la misma persona 4 veces.
Overall, it seemed like a bad movie to me. It is not entertaining, it does not hook you, it does not make you want to see more and the biggest sin is that it is not interesting. If it's on your radar and you're undecided about whether to see it or not, I recommend that you don't. By this I do not mean that the actors have done their job badly, but the direction, production and script were not up to par. They took a theme that although it is widely used, you can always give it a twist to make it more interesting and create a quality movie. Aaah, something that made me laugh is that there are recycled scenes within the movie. There is a part where Byron enters a club and there is a loop with each glance that he wants to give us inside the bar, and we see the same person pass 4 times.
