Hablar de Avatar es nombrar una de las mejores series animadas de la historia para mí. Con tres temporadas y 61 episodios esta historia se desarrolla de manera maravillosa. La trama comienza con los hermanos Katara y Sokka de la tribu del agua del sur, que al encontrar a un niño con un bisonte volador congelados en un iceberg los sacan de ahí y descubren que es el maestro aire llamado Aang, que estuvo 100 años congelado y que durante su ausencia ocurrió una guerra que ocasionó la nación el fuego y este con tan solo 12 años tiene la responsabilidad de salvar al mundo de y restablecer su equilibrio, teniendo que dominar los 4 elementos antes de que el cometa Sozin llegue y que la nación del fuego se haga muchísimo más poderoso. Los hermanos deciden acompañar a Aang en su aventura del dominio de los otros tres elementos intentando buscar a distintos maestros.

To talk about Avatar is to talk about one of the best animated series in history for me. With three seasons and 61 episodes this story unfolds wonderfully. The plot begins with siblings Katara and Sokka of the southern water tribe, who upon finding a boy with a flying bison frozen in an iceberg pull them out and discover that he is the airbender named Aang, who was 100 years frozen and that during his absence a war occurred that caused the fire nation and this with only 12 years old has the responsibility to save the world and restore its balance, having to master the 4 elements before the comet Sozin arrives and the fire nation becomes much more powerful. The brothers decide to accompany Aang in his adventure to master the other three elements trying to find different benders.

Cada temporada es un libro que se basa en cada elemento que intenta aprender el avatar, el primero es el libro Agua, donde conocemos al protagonista Aang, un niño de 12 años nómada aire que es risueño y tranquilo que luego de ser sacado de un iceberg después de 100 años, descubre que tiene la tarea de salvar el mundo de una guerra que ocurrió en su ausencia. Luego está Katara, una maestra agua que al perder a su madre a manos de la nación del fuego les guarda un gran rencor. Sokka, un chico bastante gracioso pero sumamente valiente que no domina ningún elemento, pero que posee grandes habilidades de pelea. También conocemos a uno de los más importantes, Zuko el cual es un príncipe exiliado de la nación del Fuego el cual fue expulsado hasta que consiga al Avatar, siendo el principal antagonista de este libro. También conocemos a Iroh, mi personaje favorito y el tío de Zuko, el cual es una persona bastante tranquila y ayuda a Zuko a mantener la calma en diversas situaciones. Aquí comenzamos a ver que la tarea de aprender otros elementos no será fácil para el Avatar, teniendo que viajar hasta la tribu del Agua del Norte para mejorar sus habilidades de agua control.

Each season is a book that is based on each element that the avatar tries to learn, the first is the book Water, where we meet the protagonist Aang, a 12 year old nomadic air boy who is giggly and quiet who after being pulled out of an iceberg after 100 years, discovers that he has the task of saving the world from a war that happened in his absence. Then there is Katara, a waterbender who lost her mother to the fire nation and holds a grudge against them. Sokka, a rather funny but extremely brave boy who does not dominate any element, but possesses great fighting skills. We also meet one of the most important, Zuko who is an exiled prince of the Fire Nation who was expelled until he gets the Avatar, being the main antagonist of this book. We also meet Iroh, my favorite character and Zuko's uncle, who is a pretty calm person and helps Zuko keep his cool in various situations. Here we begin to see that the task of learning other elements will not be easy for the Avatar, having to travel to the Northern Water tribe to improve his waterbending skills.

La segunda temporada es el libro Tierra donde nuestro trío de protagonistas viaja al Reino Tierra para conseguir a un maestro tierra para el joven Avatar, luego de presenciar una serie de "peleas callejeras" de maestros tierra conocen a otro de mis personajes favoritos, Toph, la cual es una maestra tierra ciega que parece fragil, pero es sumamente fuerte y considerada una prodigio en el dominio de la tierra control, además de tener un carácter fuerte que se une al viaje de los protagonistas. También vemos apariciones más importantes de personajes que aparecieron en la primera temporada, tal es el caso de Azula, la hermana menor de Zuko que es sumamente cruel y poderosa, maquiavélica y muy inteligente. También está Suki, una guerrera Kyoshi que será el interés amoroso que ayuda a los protagonistas cuando es necesario junto a sus compañeras. En este libro es muy interesante porque comenzamos a ahondar en las historias de los antiguos Avatar y las razones por las que ocurrió la guerra.

The second season is the book Earth where our trio of protagonists travels to the Earth Kingdom to get an earthbender for the young Avatar, after witnessing a series of "street fights" of earthbenders they meet another of my favorite characters, Toph, which is a blind earthbender who seems fragile, but is extremely strong and considered a prodigy in the domain of earthbending, besides having a strong character who joins the journey of the protagonists. We also see more important appearances of characters that appeared in the first season, such is the case of Azula, Zuko's younger sister who is extremely cruel and powerful, Machiavellian and very intelligent. There is also Suki, a Kyoshi warrior who will be the love interest who helps the protagonists when necessary along with her companions. In this book it is very interesting because we begin to delve into the stories of the ancient Avatar and the reasons why the war happened.

El último libro es Fuego, donde el equipo Avatar tiene la tarea más difícil, la cual es buscar a un maestro fuego que quiera ayudar al Avatar, y aquí los personajes que aparecieron anteriormente, tanto principales como secundarios terminan de desarrollarse. La aventura de Aang para pelear contra el señor del fuego Ozai, el papá de Zuko es algo que tiene a nuestro Avatar en una disyuntiva ya que pareciera que la única alternativa es matar a Ozai, pero Aang no quiere hacerlo porque va en contra de sus principios como nómada aire. También vemos como el equipo se infiltra en la nación del fuego causándonos nervios y una que otras risas a la vez. Observamos un poco la turbulenta relación entre Zuko y su hermana la cual sufre internamente al saber que su madre la veía como un monstruo y a su vez, como la joven manipula a sus amigas para que hagan acciones a su beneficio. Creo que es el mejor libro en mi opinión ya que le da un cierre fenomenal a los personajes.

The last book is Fire, where the Avatar team has the most difficult task, which is to find a firebender who wants to help the Avatar, and here the characters that appeared previously, both main and secondary, finish developing. Aang's adventure to fight against the fire lord Ozai, Zuko's father is something that has our Avatar in a dilemma since it seems that the only alternative is to kill Ozai, but Aang does not want to do it because it goes against his principles as an air nomad. We also see how the team infiltrates the fire nation causing us nerves and a few laughs at the same time. We see the turbulent relationship between Zuko and her sister who suffers internally knowing that her mother saw her as a monster and in turn, how the young girl manipulates her friends to do actions to her benefit. I think this is the best book in my opinion as it gives phenomenal closure to the characters.

Esta serie cuenta con una animación parecida al anime, por eso la confunden mucho pero fue creada en Estados Unidos así que no es considerado un anime. Esto no quita que esta serie animada haya sido un rotundo éxito para Nickelodeon, cadena televisiva responsable de emitir esta gran historia. Los creadores Michael Dante DiMartino y Bryan Konietzko afirman que se inspiraron en distintas culturas de Asia para ambientar y desarrollar la serie, y que cada elemento se inspira en un arte marcial: El aire control se rige del Pa Kua Chang; el agua control se rige del Tai Chi; la tierra control del Pa Kua Chang; y el fuego control del Shaolin del Norte. Todas estas artes marciales fueron animadas para cada elemento y también inspiradas en coreografías hechas por expertos en dichas artes. También se dedicaron a creare combinaciones de los elementos (como por ejemplo, la sangre control derivada del agua o el metal control derivado de la tierra), al mismo tiempo de crear un extenso universo en el mundo de Avatar, con un mapa, asociaciones malvadas y buenas, y la distribución de las 4 naciones de los distintos elementos, creando una historia muy sólida y bien construida. La ambientación es excelente, los paisaje fueron inspirados como dije anteriormente en distintas culturas de Asia, también los vestuarios e incluso la banda sonora la cual me parece sumamente increíble. Cada personaje, sentimiento y situación tienen su propia ambientación, siendo sumamente influenciada por la cultura oriental usando sus instrumentos típicos.

This series has an animation similar to anime, that is why it is often confused, but it was created in the United States, so it is not considered an anime. This does not detract from the fact that this animated series has been a resounding success for Nickelodeon, the television network responsible for broadcasting this great story. The creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko state that they were inspired by different Asian cultures to set and develop the series, and that each element is inspired by a martial art: air control is ruled by Pa Kua Chang; water control is ruled by Tai Chi; earth control is ruled by Pa Kua Chang; and fire control is ruled by Northern Shaolin. All these martial arts were animated for each element and also inspired by choreographies made by experts in those arts. They also dedicated themselves to create combinations of the elements (for example, the bloodbender derived from water or the metalbender control derived from earth), while creating an extensive universe in the world of Avatar, with a map, evil and good associations, and the distribution of the 4 nations of the different elements, creating a very solid and well constructed story. The setting is excellent, the scenery was inspired as I said before in different cultures of Asia, also the costumes and even the soundtrack which I find extremely incredible. Each character, feeling and situation has its own atmosphere, being highly influenced by the oriental culture using its typical instruments.

Algo muy importante para mí en esta serie es que todos los personajes tienen una evolución coherente y cierran de manera maravillosa, de aquí conocí lo que es darle un buen arco de redención a un villano como pasó con Zuko, siendo uno de mis personajes favoritos y el que para mí tiene el mejor desarrollo en el mundo de la animación, ya que al conocer la razón de sus acciones y como va recapacitando poco a poco en base a hecho y diversas situaciones que vive me parece algo sumamente maravilloso. A su vez, vemos como los personajes van madurando poco a poco, Katara aprende a controlar su elemento y emociones, Sokka aprende muchas habilidades increíbles aunque no controle un elemento y también se vuelve un mejor estratega, Toph aprende a trabajar en equipo, y por supuesto Appa y Momo también tienen sus pequeñas historias dentro de la serie. Gracias al éxito que tuvo esta serie se creó Avatar: La leyenda de Korra la cual fue sumamente criticada pero también tuvo un buen desarrollo a pesar de todo. El mundo de Avatar es extenso pero es un viaje sumamente agradable, es una serie animada que recomiendo muchísimo ya que su trama es sumamente atrapante y excelente, definitivamente mi serie animada favorita.

Something very important for me in this series is that all the characters have a coherent evolution and close in a wonderful way, from here I knew what it is to give a good arc of redemption to a villain as happened with Zuko, being one of my favorite characters and the one that for me has the best development in the world of animation, since knowing the reason for his actions and how he gradually comes to his senses based on fact and various situations he lives through seems to me something extremely wonderful. At the same time, we see how the characters mature little by little, Katara learns to control her element and emotions, Sokka learns many incredible skills even though he doesn't control an element and also becomes a better strategist, Toph learns to work in a team, and of course Appa and Momo also have their little stories within the series. Thanks to the success of this series, Avatar: The Legend of Korra was created, which was highly criticized but also had a good development in spite of everything. The world of Avatar is extensive but it is an extremely pleasant journey, it is an animated series that I highly recommend because its plot is extremely catchy and excellent, definitely my favorite animated series.
