Hello cinephiles (Nice to meet you, my name is Nattosheru, but you can call me Natto). This is my first post in this community and I wanted to make it special with a section that I really like to do of "Tops" of movies that I have seen and that I really like. This time I wanted to start in the most "Family Friendly" way with the five best Disney animated movies (in my opinion). But, keep in mind that in this opportunity I will not talk about the "Fairy Tale" classics or popular franchises like "Cars", "Toys Story" or "Shrek", but we will talk about movies that at the time did not achieve the success that was expected but still passed to posterity as jewels of cinema and culture.
This top will be ranked, always taking into account my personal opinion, from 1 to 10 and we will start with the lowest rating and end with the highest rating of all. I repeat, it is my opinion that you will read in this post, so surely some of you will not agree. If that is your case, don't forget to leave your opinion in the comments.

Hola cinéfilos (Mucho gusto, mi nombre es Nattosheru, pero me pueden llamar Natto). Este es mi primer post en esta comunidad y quería que fuera especial con una sección que me gusta mucho hacer de “Tops” de películas que he visto y que me gustan mucho. En esta oportunidad quería empezar de lo más “Family Friendly” con las cinco mejores películas animadas de Disney (según mi opinión). Pero, tengan en cuenta que en esta oportunidad no hablaré de los clásicos de “Cuentos de Hadas” o de franquicias populares como “Cars”, “Toys Story” o “Shrek”, sino que hablaremos de películas que en su momento no consiguieron el éxito que se esperaba pero que aún así pasaron a la posteridad como joyas del cine y de la cultura.
Este top lo clasificaré, tomando siempre en cuenta mi opinión personal, entre el 1 al 10 y empezaremos con el de menor calificación hasta terminar con el de mayor calificación de todas. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002)
Let's start with a film that very few will remember, one of the animated works that one of Disney's currently most popular animation houses took the risk of producing and releasing. Although it was not as successful as expected at the time (rather, it was one of the animated films that have failed in the 2000s), its animation, characters and story went down in posterity as a cult work of cinema.
The film tells the story of a horse, that's right, a wild yellow horse that one day comes across a group of cowboys camping in the woods. This one, out of curiosity, approaches them and, noticing them, they try to catch him and succeed (after a short chase). He is later sold by the U.S. cavalry, who will try to tame him, a mission that no one has succeeded in, so far.
Although the story is a bit peculiar, especially for the protagonist, it has elements and a background that is incomparable and leaves you with a very good lesson of courage and sense of freedom. The voices are very well done, especially the theme of the internal monologue that the horse has throughout the film, which gives him that sense of "humanity" with which one feels identified, is spectacular. The characters are very well developed and the animation is incredible and impeccable, for its time. But, what I loved most of all, is the incredible soundtrack that this animated work has.
Personally, I give it an 8/10 as far as the adventure genre is concerned.

Empecemos con una película que muy pocos recordarán, una de las obras animadas que una de las casas de animación actualmente más populares de Disney se arriesgó a producir y estrenar. Si bien no tuvo el éxito que se esperaba en aquel momento (más bien fue una de las películas animadas que han fracasado en la década de los 2000s), su animación, personajes e historia pasó a la posteridad como una obra de culto para el cine.
La película nos cuenta la historia de un caballo, así es, uno salvaje de color amarillo que un día se encuentra con un grupo de vaqueros acampando en el bosque. Este, por curiosidad, se les acerca y, dándose cuenta ellos, intentan atraparlo y lo logran (después de una pequeña persecución). Este es posteriormente vendido por la caballería estadounidense, los cuales intentarán domarlo, misión que nadie ha logrado, hasta ahora.
Si bien la historia es un poco peculiar, sobre todo por el protagonista, posee elementos y un trasfondo que es incomparable y te deja una muy buena lección de valentía y sentido de la libertad. Las voces están muy bien hechas, sobre todo el tema del monólogo interno que tiene el caballo durante toda la película, lo cual le da esa sensación de “humanidad” con la que uno se siente identificado, es espectacular. Los personajes están muy bien desarrollados y la animación es increíble e impecable, para su época. Pero, lo que más me encantó de todo, es la increíble banda sonora que tiene esta obra animada.
Personalmente, le doy un 8/10 en lo que respecta al género de la aventura.
SourceBrother Bear (2003)
Let's continue with another movie that, although it was a little more successful than the previous film, as a franchise it did not achieve the success that Disney expected at the time. While it is true that it is a film for children, both the story and the message it conveys leave us reflecting at any stage of our lives. Even to this day I remember it as one of the best animated films I saw on television as a child. A movie that has comedy, drama, action, adventure and much more.
The movie tells the story of two brothers from an ancient tribe who believe that everything exists and was created by spirits, which supposedly appear in the form of auroras in the sky. Everyone is given a totem at a certain age in their lives that represents the "animal" that the spirits claim to identify with. Our protagonist, the younger brother, receives the totem of the "Love Bear" which is a rare one. However, a series of events that will occur later on will test his "love" for said animal which he considers a beast and his mortal enemy.
Another movie with a story and characters so well developed, with a background and a message that even to this day is still quite impactful. One of the best I have seen in my short life, with an animation that, once again, leaves no one indifferent. The drama that from the beginning shows us, a journey that helps to change our point of view of things and a couple of brothers who are not related by blood. But, what fascinates me most about this film, once again, is the soundtrack it has, as it transmits everything it seeks to teach us throughout the film.
Personally, I give it a 9/10 as far as the adventure and fantasy genre is concerned.

Continuemos con otra película que, si bien tuvo un éxito un tanto mayor a la cinta anterior, como franquicia no logró el éxito que Disney esperaba en su momento. Si bien es cierto que es una película para niños, tanto la historia como el mensaje que transmite nos deja reflexionando en cualquier etapa de nuestra vida. Aún al día de hoy la recuerdo como una de las mejores películas animadas que he visto en televisión cuando era niño. Una película que tiene comedia, drama, acción, aventura y mucho más.
La película nos cuenta la historia de dos hermanos de una antigua tribu que creen que todo existe y fue creado por los espíritus, los cuales supuestamente aparecen en forma de auroras en el cielo. A todos se les entrega un tótem a cierta edad de su vida que representa el “animal” que los espíritus dicen sentirse identificados. Nuestro protagonista, el hermano menor, recibe el tótem del “Oso del Amor” el cual es uno raro. Sin embargo, una serie de sucesos que ocurrirán más adelante pondrán a prueba su “amor” por dicho animal que considera una bestia y su enemigo mortal.
Otra película con una historia y personajes tan bien desarrollados, con un trasfondo y un mensaje que aún al día de hoy sigue impactando bastante. De las mejores que he visto en mi corta vida, con una animación que, una vez más, no deja indiferente a nadie. El drama que desde el principio nos muestra, un viaje que ayuda a cambiar nuestro punto de vista de las cosas y una pareja de hermanos que no están relacionados por la sangre. Pero, lo que más me fascina de esta película, una vez más, es la banda sonora que posee, ya que transmite todo lo que busca enseñarnos durante toda la película.
Personalmente, le doy un 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de la aventura y la fantasía.
SourceTarzan (1999)
Let's move on to an animated film that still fascinates me to this day. What is, for me, the best big screen adaptation of the "King of the Jungle", Tarzan. A film that shows us again the incredible cinematographic works that Disney launched in the early 2000s, but that were not as successful as expected. However, this did not prevent it from becoming one of my favorites of the time, but also a great reference of cinema and popular culture.
The film tells the story of the son of two survivors of a ship that burned and was shipwrecked on a distant island, where they settled in a house they made on a large tree. Both were killed by a cheetah and it was only a female gorilla that saved the little boy's life. As an adult and raised by apes and other animals, he encounters a group of humans who are investigating the gorillas. That encounter will change his life completely.
This movie was one of the first I remember seeing when I was a kid. The story, the characters, the scenes and even the ending are a complete marvel both visually and aurally (also for having a spectacular soundtrack). Once again, the animation in this late 90s film is spectacular and impeccable, a job very well done by the animation house hired by Disney for such a risky project. The story conveys a very clear message about the value of family and home, and we can identify that from beginning to end.
Personally, I give it a score of 9/10 as far as the adventure genre is concerned.

Sigamos ahora con una película animada que aún al día de hoy me fascina mucho ver. La que es, para mí, la mejor adaptación a la pantalla grande del “Rey de la Selva”, Tarzán. Una película que nos muestra de nuevo las increíbles obras cinematográficas que lanzó Disney a principios de los años 2000s, pero que no tuvieron el éxito que se esperaban. Sin embargo, esto no evitó que se convirtiera en una de mis favoritas de la época, sino también en un gran referente del cine y de la cultura popular.
La película nos cuenta la historia del hijo de dos sobrevivientes de un barco que se quemó y naufragaron en una isla lejana, donde se asentaron en una casa que hicieron sobre un gran árbol. Ambos fueron asesinados por un guepardo y no fue sino una gorila hembra que salvó la vida del pequeño. Siendo ya un adulto y criado por simios y otros animales, este se topa con un grupo de humanos que están investigando a los gorilas. Ese encuentro le cambiará la vida por completo.
Está película fue de las primeras que recuerdo haber visto cuando era pequeño. La historia, los personajes, las escenas e incluso el final son una completa maravilla tanto visual como auditiva (también por tener una espectacular banda sonora). Una vez más, la animación que posee esta cinta de finales de los 90s es espectacular e impecable, un trabajo muy bien hecho por parte de la casa animadora que contrató Disney para tan arriesgado proyecto. La historia transmite un mensaje muy claro del valor de la familia y el hogar, y eso lo podemos identificar de principio a fin.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de aventura.
SourceTreasure Planet (2002)
Let's talk now about one of the Disney animated films that I have been most fond of - along with the previous one and the next one - in my life since I was a child. This story touched my heart so deeply that I still remember it perfectly to this day. Although it was yet another film that failed in those hard times, we must admit that since then it has become one of the most appreciated and best made hidden gems in the history of cinema and culture, and it is still very well remembered to this day.
In the distant future, humanity lives in space with other beings in harmony. A boy who grew up with his mother, since his father disappeared when he was little, dreams of traveling the galaxy, far away from home. He embarks on an unexpected journey, as a result of a strange visitor who fell in front of his house and before dying left him a message and a map of the location of the "Treasure Planet". Together with a team of crew members on a space ship, he will go in search of the planet that everyone is crazy to find.
This time we can enjoy an adventure that will take us into space, with very well developed characters that we can easily become familiar with, starting with the main character, and a story that will surely make more than one of us shed a tear (as I did when I was little). A work with an incredible and very well done animation, a spectacular soundtrack, as always, and a lesson that we can extract and keep for a lifetime. Again, the Disney of the 2000s surprising with one of its best productions in its history.
Personally, I give it a rating of 9.5/10 as far as the adventure and science fiction genre is concerned.

Hablemos ahora de una de las películas animadas de Disney que más cariño le he tenido - junto con la anterior y la siguiente - en mi vida desde muy pequeño. Y es que esta historia caló tan hondo en mi corazón que aún al día de hoy la sigo recordando perfectamente. Si bien fue otra película más que fracasó en aquella dura época, hay que admitir que desde entonces se ha convertido en una de las joyas escondidas más apreciadas y mejor hechas de la historia del cine y de la cultura, aún al día de hoy se recuerda muy bien.
En un futuro lejano, la humanidad convive en el espacio con otros seres en armonía. Un chico que creció con su madre, ya que su padre desapareció cuando era pequeño, sueña con viajar por la galaxia, lejos de casa. Este se embarca en un viaje inesperado, como consecuencia de un extraño visitante que cayó frente a su casa y que antes de morir le dejó un mensaje y un mapa de la ubicación del “Planeta del Tesoro”. Junto con un equipo de tripulantes en un barco espacial, irá en busca de dicho planeta que todo el mundo está loco por encontrar.
En esta ocasión podemos disfrutar de una aventura que nos llevará al espacio, con personajes muy bien desarrollados que fácilmente podremos familiarizarnos, empezando por el protagonista, y una historia que seguramente hará que más de uno suelte una lágrima (como yo la solté cuando era pequeño). Una obra con una animación increíble y muy bien hecha, una banda sonora espectacular, como siempre, y una lección que podemos extraer y guardar para toda la vida. De nuevo, el Disney de los años 2000 sorprendiendo con una de sus mejores producciones de toda su historia.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de aventura y ciencia ficción.

And finally, let's talk about what for me is the best movie that Disney dared to produce in the 2000s and that even today is still giving a lot to talk about. The one that remains as the best of all, is not one of the old west or on an island full of apes, nor one of millions of years ago or a distant future, but it is a film that reminds us of one of the most popular stories that the great Julio Verne wrote at the time. A work that completely changed the way I look at Disney movies to this day.
A student of ancient languages and genius wishes to know more about the lost empire of Atlantis, a city that was banished centuries ago from the face of the earth. Thanks to the help of a millionaire friend of his late grandfather, he invests in the research being done by our protagonist and sends a professional team of researchers, among others, in search of the lost city. After a hard journey through the deep seas, they find the city, which is not alone.
If you want to enjoy a movie full of action, adventure, fiction and excellent animation, you have to see this masterpiece, without a doubt. From the very beginning of the movie, in the first minutes, you will be easily hooked by the tremendous introduction. The incredible story we are told, the characters excellently made, as always, the animation that looks so good for being from decades ago and the incredible soundtrack and visual and sound effects that this movie has, make it always my favorite choice to watch at any time. This movie has it all, so you can watch it alone, with your family or with friends.
Personally, I give it a well-deserved 10/10 rating for the sci-fi, adventure and action genre.

Y para finalizar, hablemos de la que para mí es la mejor película que Disney se atrevió a producir en la época de los 2000s y que aún a la fecha de hoy sigue dando mucho de qué hablar. La que se queda como la mejor de todas, no es una del viejo oeste o en una isla repleta de simios, tampoco una de hace millones de años o de un futuro lejano, sino que es una película que nos recuerda una de las historias más populares que el gran Julio Verne escribió en su momento. Una obra que cambió por completo mi forma de ver las películas de Disney hasta el día de hoy.
Un estudiante de lenguas antiguas y genio desea saber más del imperio perdido de Atlántida, una ciudad que fue desterrada hace siglos de la faz de la tierra. Este, gracias a la ayuda de un millonario amigo de su fallecido abuelo, invierte en la investigación que está realizando nuestro protagonista y manda a un equipo profesional de investigadores, entre otros, en busca de la ciudad perdida. Luego de un duro viaje por los profundos mares, estos encuentran la ciudad, la cual no se encuentra sola.
Si quieres disfrutar de una película repleta de acción, aventura, ficción y una excelente animación, tienes que ver esta obra maestra, sin duda alguna. Desde el mismo principio de la película, en los primeros minutos, te engancharás fácilmente con tremenda introducción. La increíble historia que nos cuentan, los personajes excelentemente hechos, como siempre, la animación que tan bien queda para ser de hace décadas y la increíble banda sonora y efectos visuales y de sonido que tiene esta película la hacen ser siempre mi opción preferida para ver en cualquier momento. Esta cinta tiene de todo, así que podrás verla solo, acompañado o con tu familia.
Personalmente, le doy una merecida calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta al género de la ciencia ficción, la aventura y la acción.
