A veces tenemos altas expectativas en cuanto a las películas, a veces observamos los trailers y esperamos ansiosos la fecha de estreno de esa película. Siempre he escuchado decir que mantener altas las expectativas puede hacer que el espectador termine decepcionándose, es mejor mantener la calma y las expectativas bajas para no llevarse un “estrellón”. Esto me ha ocurrido con la película que hoy quiero compartir con ustedes, es una producción que cuyo nombre “La Masacre de Texas” es reconocido principalmente por su primera película en los años 70´s.
Esta es una secuela de esa original, introducida en una historia ocurrida 50 años después de lo sucedido en la película original de 1974, es una producción con un metraje relativamente corto de 82 minutos.
Sinopsis:
Un grupo de jóvenes influencers desea construir un negocio en el desolado pueblo de Harlow (Texas), sin embargo, todo cambia con la aparición del desquiciado asesino Leatherface, el cual molestan accidentalmente y ahora todo el grupo de jóvenes e invitados correrá peligro mortal. El sueño se convierte en una auténtica pesadilla sangrienta.
¿Por qué Pienso que la Película me ha Decepcionado?
Expectativas Muy Altas
Es evidente que cuando esperamos por el estreno de una película que deseamos desde hace meses, nuestras expectativas son altas, si a este enfoque le sumamos que la película es una secuela directa de un clásico de la industria del cine, esas expectativas aumentan considerablemente.
Me considero un fan de las películas de terror, no solo el sobrenatural, también me agradan los subgéneros de Slasher, el cual se refiere a un psicópata asesino que elimina personas sin una razón aparente, utilizando normalmente armas afiladas. Otro subgénero que se introduce esta película es Gore, un subgénero basado en la violencia, heridas sangrientas exageradas y explicitas, en lo particular disfruto de ambos subgéneros que se añaden en las expectativas de esta película, sabíamos con antelación que íbamos a presenciar mucha sangre y muertes provocadas por la típica motosierra de Leatherface.
Tener altas expectativas sobre esta secuela fue un error desde mi punto de vista, siento la decepción me tocó con un poco mas de dureza, creo que si fuese una película independiente fuera de la historia del clásico de los 70´s seria menos más aceptable desde mi punto de vista.
Este es el motivo principal de mi decepción, puede que la película logre ser del gusto de muchos usuarios y eso lo respeto completamente, solo que tenía unas expectativas muy altas que se desvanecieron a los pocos minutos de comenzar a ver esta película.
Habiendo escrito todo esto, les quiero comentar algunos aspectos que no me gustaron de la película.
El Guion
Comienzo con la estructura argumental del film, me parece una historia muy torpe con varios vacíos en el argumento el cual notamos inmediatamente, esta historia en líneas generales no es entretenida si le quitamos la violencia exagerada que le caracteriza.
Película Ilógica
La película se muestra ilógica en algunos segmentos, donde los personajes con un simple acto o palabra cambian completamente el rumbo de la trama, por supuesto esto se hace para que la película goce de muertes sangrientas.
Atención, si no has visto esta película debo advertir que en la siguiente sección describiré algunos momentos en donde me parece que la película se tornaba en un argumento risible. Normalmente mi estilo de reseña es sin spoiler, pero en esta ocasión deseo comentarles algunas escenas que me parecieron absurdas además de unas características de Leatherface que me parecieron exageradas.
Escena 1:
En uno de los momentos de la película uno de los personajes tiene la llave del autobús, lugar donde están todas las personas reunidas, este personaje prefiere quedarse con las llaves y enfrentar solo a un asesino que le quito una buena parte del rostro a uno de los visitantes, en lugar de darles las llaves para que se alejen del lugar prefiere quedárselas y enfrentar el solo la amenaza. Con darle las llaves salvaba a todos, luego sabemos cómo termina este personaje que luego lucha para hacer llegar las llaves a una de las protagonistas para que se puedan ir del pueblo.
Escena 2:
Otra de las escenas donde puede cambiar todo es cuando hay un personaje apuntándole a Leatherface en el cráneo, pero como sucedería en una parodia lo que hace es hablar, dejar se levante, que tome su arma y luego en un rotundo giro, los papeles son invertidos. Un solo disparo en la cabeza y terminaba la pesadilla, pero este personaje hace algo absurdo y estúpido, en las películas de terror esto añade miedo, drama, pero esta escena no añade emociones a la película, solo el enojo del espectador preguntándose porque no le disparó.
Super Leatherface:
Pienso que Leatherface evoluciona de villano a un super villano con todo y poderes, me parece algo exagerado y que no va acorde a este famoso villano del cine, creo que le agregaron muchas más habilidades para hacer la película un poco más vistosa.
Resistencia
Leatherface parece indestructible, golpes disparos incluso utilizan la motosierra contra el y termina solamente cojeando, este tipo puede medirse contra Hulk y quizás nos sorprenda nuevamente.
Velocidad
Este es un villano enorme, donde la fuerza bruta es quizás su capacidad más temible, sin embargo, hay escenas donde corre muy rápido sosteniendo la motosierra, ¿acaso es un mutante?
Precisión
Vamos a suponer que este Leatherface tiene mucha más fuerza que un ser humano normal, hasta allí podemos estar bien, pero este tipo tiene la capacidad de lanzar la motosierra con una precisión realmente sorpréndete. Creo que una motosierra encendida es un objeto difícil de lanzar y de calcular su trayectoria, bueno a los guionistas no les importó. En un punto de la película esperaba que la motosierra se devolviera como un boomerang a la mano de Leatherface ya si ocurría eso no me iba a sorprender.
Estas características de Leatherface me parecieron exageradas, junto a las escenas que expliqué anteriormente por momentos me parecía que estaba viendo una parodia casi risible y con muy poco terror.

Sangre y Violencia
Este es quizás el punto más favorable de la película, se muestra mucha sangre y muchas heridas. No puedo negar que hay buenas escenas en cuanto a violencia, sin embargo, no me parecen de un nivel tan alto como lo esperaba, hay mucha sangre, pero no añade nada de terror, drama y nada a la película solamente es para observar y entretenerse en unas cuantas escenas, solo eso.
Personajes
Los personajes soy muy básicos, no son para nada interesantes y creo que en ningún momento logramos conectar con alguno de ellos y la muerte de algunos personajes es algo muy simple. Estos personajes creo que hace que la película decepcione aún más.
¿Terror?
No hay mucho terror en esta película, pocas escenas donde se puede sentir algo de tensión, pero nada significativo, incluso con los efectos de sonido y sorpresa es muy poco el terror en esta película, desde mi perspectiva es una película de sangre y muerte solamente, sin un terror significativo.
Conclusión
Lamentablemente me he llevado una decepción en esta película, como lo escribí arriba, pienso que el principal motivo es que tenia unas expectativas muy altas, deseaba ver una buena película dentro de estos subgéneros de terror, pero el argumento y los personajes fallan estrepitosamente desde mi punto de vista.
¿Logra ser entretenida?
A mi parecer si hay algo de entretenimiento, solo debes esperar a que asesinen a alguien y que la sangre sea la protagonista, ese es el enfoque que se le otorga a la película, aunque falla en diversos aspectos en cuanto puede ser de entretenimiento para algunos con ganas de ver sangre.
Gustos de los Espectadores
Debo decir que esta es mi opinión personal, yo sé que algunos espectadores les han gustado esta película y eso es respetable, cada quien posee gustos distintos y como siempre digo eso le da un mayor valor a este mundo del entretenimiento ya que observamos las producciones desde diferentes puntos de vista.
Habrán notado que para escribir sobre esta película he cambiado un poco la estructura, pero quería realizar esta reseña de esta manera, creo que a este punto no es necesario saber si la recomiendo o no.

Sometimes we have high expectations when it comes to movies, sometimes we watch trailers and wait anxiously for the release date of that movie. I have always heard that keeping expectations high can make the viewer end up being disappointed, it is better to keep calm and low expectations to avoid a "crash". This has happened to me with the movie I want to share with you today, it is a production whose name "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is recognized mainly for its first movie in the 70's.
This is a sequel to that original, introduced in a story that occurred 50 years after what happened in the original 1974 film, it is a production with a relatively short footage of 82 minutes.
Synopsis:
A group of young influencers want to build a business in the desolate town of Harlow (Texas), however, everything changes with the appearance of the deranged killer Leatherface, which they accidentally disturb and now the whole group of young people and guests will be in mortal danger. The dream turns into a real bloody nightmare.
Why did I think the movie disappointed me?
Very High Expectations
It is obvious that when we wait for the release of a movie that we have been wanting for months, our expectations are high, if we add to this approach that the movie is a direct sequel to a classic film, those expectations increase considerably.
I consider myself a fan of horror movies, not only the supernatural, I also like the Slasher subgenres, which refers to a murderous psychopath who eliminates people for no apparent reason, usually using sharp weapons. Another subgenre that is introduced in this movie is Gore, a subgenre based on violence, exaggerated and explicit bloody wounds, I particularly enjoy both subgenres that are added in the expectations of this movie, we knew in advance that we were going to witness a lot of blood and deaths caused by the typical Leatherface chainsaw.
Having high expectations on this sequel was a mistake from my point of view, I feel the disappointment touched me a little harder, I think if it was a standalone movie outside the story of the 70's classic it would be less acceptable from my point of view.
This is the main reason for my disappointment, the movie may be to the taste of many users and I respect that completely, I just had very high expectations that vanished a few minutes after starting to watch this movie.
Having written all this, I would like to comment on some aspects of the movie that I did not like.
The Script
I start with the plot structure of the film, it seems to me a very clumsy story with several gaps in the plot which we notice immediately, this story in general is not entertaining if we take away the exaggerated violence that characterizes it.
Illogical Movie
The film is illogical in some segments, where the characters with a simple act or word completely change the course of the plot, of course this is done so that the film enjoys bloody deaths.
Attention, if you have not seen this movie I must warn you that in the following section I will describe some moments where it seems to me that the movie turned into a laughable plot. Normally my review style is spoiler free, but on this occasion I wish to comment on some scenes that I found absurd in addition to some Leatherface characteristics that I found exaggerated.
Scene 1:
In one of the moments of the movie one of the characters has the key to the bus, place where all the people are gathered, this character prefers to keep the keys and face alone a murderer who removed a good part of the face of one of the visitors, instead of giving them the keys to get away from the place he prefers to keep them and face the threat alone. By giving him the keys he saved everyone, then we know how this character ends up who then struggles to get the keys to one of the protagonists so they can leave town.
Scene 2:
Another scene where everything can change is when there is a character aiming at Leatherface in the skull, but as would happen in a parody what he does is talk, let him stand up, let him take his gun and then in a resounding twist, the roles are reversed. One shot in the head and the nightmare was over, but this character does something absurd and stupid, in horror movies this adds fear, drama, but this scene does not add emotions to the movie, only the anger of the viewer wondering why he did not shoot him.
Super Leatherface:
I think Leatherface evolves from a villain to a super villain with everything and powers, it seems to me something exaggerated and that does not go according to this famous movie villain, I think they added many more skills to make the movie a little more showy.
Resistance
Leatherface seems indestructible, he even uses the chainsaw against him and ends up just limping, this guy can measure himself against the Hulk and maybe he will surprise us again.
Speed
This is a huge villain, where brute strength is perhaps his most fearsome ability, however, there are scenes where he runs very fast holding the chainsaw, is he a mutant?
Accuracy
Let's assume that this Leatherface has much more strength than a normal human being, up to there we can be fine, but this guy has the ability to throw the chainsaw with a really surprising precision. I think a lit chainsaw is a difficult object to throw and to calculate its trajectory, well the screenwriters didn't care. At one point in the movie I expected the chainsaw to boomerang back into Leatherface's hand and if that happened I wasn't going to be surprised.
These characteristics of Leatherface seemed over the top to me, along with the scenes I explained above at times it felt like I was watching an almost laughable parody with very little horror.

Blood and Violence
This is perhaps the most favorable point of the film, a lot of blood and a lot of wounds are shown. I can't deny that there are good scenes in terms of violence, however, they don't strike me as high level as I expected, there is a lot of blood, but it doesn't add any horror, drama and nothing to the movie it's just for watching and entertainment in a few scenes, just that.
Characters
The characters are very basic, they are not interesting at all and I don't think we connect with any of them at any point and the death of some of the characters is very simple. These characters I think makes the movie even more disappointing.
Horror?
There is not much terror in this movie, few scenes where you can feel some tension, but nothing significant, even with the sound effects and surprise is very little terror in this movie, from my perspective is a movie of blood and death only, without significant terror.
Conclusion
Unfortunately I was disappointed in this movie, as I wrote above, I think the main reason is that I had very high expectations, I wanted to see a good movie within these subgenres of horror, but the plot and characters fail miserably from my point of view.
Does it manage to be entertaining?
In my opinion if there is any entertainment, you just have to wait for someone to be murdered and blood to be the protagonist, that is the approach that is given to the film, although it fails in several aspects in that it can be entertaining for some with a desire to see blood.
Viewer Tastes
I must say that this is my personal opinion, I know that some viewers have liked this movie and that is respectable, everyone has different tastes and as I always say that gives greater value to this world of entertainment as we observe the productions from different points of view.
You may have noticed that to write about this movie I have changed the structure a little bit, but I wanted to make this review in this way, I think that at this point it is not necessary to know if I recommend it or not.
