Three movies, three mini movie reviews ideal to watch this weekend. A variety of genres with different stories to enjoy , there is even one that you can watch with the whole family. Each one has pleased me and I hope you like my recommendations and comment me at the end of the post.

Why am I reviewing several movies in one post? All the ones I've seen have piled up and I haven't had time to do a review. It would take me a long time to do them for each one, because I always say I'm going to do a short review and by the time I'm done writing, I'm coming up with several pages.
I've previously reviewed two movies, but I think I'm going to increase the number of posts grouping together a batch of movies that I haven't been able to recommend to you and I've selected these that I think are perfect for weekend viewing.

¿Por qué estoy reseñando varias películas en un solo post? Se me han acumulado todas las que he visto y no he tenido tiempo de hacer una reseña. Me llevaría mucho tiempo hacerlas de cada una, porque siempre digo que voy a hacer una reseña corta y para cuando termino de escribir, me salen varias páginas.

What's the plot?
Sam is a beautiful but dangerous young woman, she is a lethal assassin who works for a secret organization called The Firm. Her immediate boss is Nathan, who contacts her for another job, to find an accountant who stole money from The Firm's partners. She has a trauma, when she was 12 years old, her mother Scarlet, who was also a professional assassin for The Firm, abandoned her at the coffee shop they frequented. Scarlet got in trouble with her bosses and had to disappear. While Sam executes her mission, she learns that the accountant stole the money because criminals kidnapped her little daughter Chloe. She decides to save the girl, ignoring the company's orders, then the organization decides it's time to finish her off and hand over her location to a Russian mobster whose son was killed by Sam. She heads to the Bookstore, where she meets Madeleine, Florence and Anna May, assassins and weapons suppliers who were friends of her mother's. Will she manage to protect Chloe's life? I was really looking forward to seeing this film for one simple reason: it's directed by Israeli filmmaker Navot Papushado. Many may not know who the fuck this man is, but to refresh your memory, he is the director and co-writer of the brutal 2013 film Big Bad Wolves. At the time it was one of my favorite films and for me is in the group of the best of that year. Quentin Tarantino also praised it and they used his words to promote it worldwide.
Don't expect a similar movie, this time the filmmaker just keeps his touch of black humor, but the story is very different. Papushado co-wrote the script with Ehud Lavski creating this universe full of secret organizations and places where assassins and criminals go about their business as usual. This can be very reminiscent of John Wick, it seems that now all professional assassin action movies, mimic the John wick universe.
Female assassins is another one of my guilty pleasures, I really enjoy these movies where women are the main characters and although they have a fragile appearance, they are deadly weapons when facing enemies.
In the movie it won't just be Sam, played by actress Karen Gillian, busting heads and kicking the asses of the bad guys who want to exterminate her. There will also be Escarlet, her mother, played by Lena Headey (oh yes, our hated and beloved Cersei Lannister) and the trio of Madeleine, Florence and Anna May, who run The Bookshop, a place where professional assassins acquire their weapons. These assassins are excellently played by the beautiful Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh and Angela Basset. damn! What a trio of female assassins, a delight to watch them in action.

Tenía muchas ganas de ver esta película por una sencilla razón: está dirigida por el cineasta israelí Navot Papushado. Quizá muchos no sepan quién carajos es este hombre, pero para refrescar la memoria, es el director y coguionista de la brutal película de 2013 Big Bad Wolves. En su momento fue una de mis películas favoritas y para mí está en el grupo de las mejores de ese año. Quentin Tarantino también la alabó y utilizaron sus palabras para promocionarla a nivel mundial.
No esperes una película similar, esta vez el cineasta sólo mantiene su toque de humor negro, pero la historia es muy diferente. Papushado coescribió el guión con Ehud Lavski creando este universo lleno de organizaciones secretas y lugares donde los asesinos y criminales se dedican a sus negocios normalmente. Esto puede recordar mucho a John Wick, parece que ahora todas las películas de acción de asesinos profesionales, imitan el universo de John wick.
Las mujeres asesinas es otro de mis placeres culpables, disfruto mucho de estas películas donde las mujeres son las protagonistas y aunque tienen una apariencia frágil, son armas mortales a la hora de enfrentarse a los enemigos.
En la película no sólo será Sam, interpretada por la actriz Karen Gillian, la que reviente cabezas y patee los traseros de los malos que quieren exterminarla. También estará Escarlet, su madre, interpretada por Lena Headey (oh sí, nuestra odiada y querida Cersei Lannister) y el trío formado por Madeleine, Florence y Anna May, que dirigen La Librería, un lugar donde los asesinos profesionales adquieren sus armas. Estas asesinas están excelentemente interpretadas por las bellas Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh y Angela Basset. ¡Diablos! Qué trío de asesinas, una delicia verlas en acción.
Sam's first fights with the men of The Firm, a trio of fools, are not impressive, for a moment I thought the movie would be a disappointment, but just wait until the plot progresses, other characters appear and the whole army of bad guys show up for the action to be insane, with explosive sequences, full of light and color for our visual delight.
The fight choreographies improve, especially in the long sequence of the battle inside The Bookstore, always accompanied by a fantastic musical band. Special mention to the sequence of a butcher shop to the rhythm of Janis Joplin, with Carla Gugino making me fall in love while unloading a machine gun.
The cinematography is by Michael Seresin, who has a long career in Hollywood and in this film makes a color shake that I loved. As I said, each time the fights are better and there is one that takes place in the cafeteria that is part of this universe of criminals, masterfully performing a fabulous sequence shot with slow motion.
Gunpowder Milkshake has action, a group of female assassins who will fight to the end to stay alive, deaths and well-choreographed fight sequences, accompanied by an exquisite soundtrack and a top-notch cast. Good news: the production company has announced that it plans to make a sequel and I'll be waiting to see these women face dangerous villains.
This is my first recommendation, a film that I enjoyed from beginning to end, both for its colorful mise-en-scene, the scenes of violence, the action, the beautiful protagonists and the humor that Navot Papushado elaborated for this change of genre in his filmography. The experiment went well!
Las primeras peleas de Sam con los hombres de La Firma, un trío de tontos, no son impresionantes, por un momento pensé que la película sería una decepción, pero sólo hay que esperar a que avance la trama, aparezcan otros personajes y todo el ejército de malos para que la acción sea una locura, con secuencias explosivas, llenas de luz y color para nuestro deleite visual.
Las coreografías de lucha mejoran, sobre todo en la larga secuencia de la batalla en el interior de La Librería, siempre acompañada por una fantástica banda musical. Mención especial a la secuencia de una carnicería al ritmo de Janis Joplin , con Carla Gugino enamorándome mientras descarga una ametralladora.
La fotografía es de Michael Seresin, que tiene una dilatada carrera en Hollywood y en esta película hace un batido de colores que me encantó. Como he dicho, cada vez las peleas son mejores y hay una que tiene lugar en la cafetería que forma parte de este universo de criminales, realizando magistralmente un fabuloso plano secuencia con slow motion.
Gunpowder Milkshake tiene acción, un grupo de asesinas que lucharán hasta el final por seguir vivas, muertes y secuencias de lucha bien coreografiadas, acompañadas de una banda sonora exquisita y un reparto de primera. Una buena noticia: la productora ha anunciado que piensa hacer una secuela y estaré esperando para ver a estas mujeres enfrentarse a peligrosos villanos.
Esta es mi primera recomendación, una película que disfruté de principio a fin, tanto por su colorida puesta en escena, las escenas de violencia, la acción, las bellas protagonistas y el humor que Navot Papushado elaboró para este cambio de género en su filmografía. ¡El experimento ha salido bien!

Before writing this review, I have seen a news that says that the film has been a failure in money collection, being listed as the worst release (so far) of the year. I understand the reasons for this poor reception. I liked the film, but I think Lisa Joy overdoes it in the construction of a plot that seems to seek to shock the viewer, but that manages to fall into the pit of its own ambition.
Don't know who Lisa Joy is? She is the co-creator of the HBO series Westworld, along with her husband Jonatahn Nolan. Yes, you read that right the last name, he is the brother of the consecrated Chritopher Nolan. In the HBO series you can feel that ambition to create grandiloquence in many scenes. It works in the series, now in this movie not so much. But Reminiscence is not a bad movie, it just doesn't all work properly, despite a cast headed by a star like Hugh Jackman.
This sci-fi story focuses on memories, on how we humans are slaves to our past. Nick falls into the trap of the beautiful Mae, played by actress Rebecca Ferguson, with whom it is impossible not to fall in love, I understand Nick, it was impossible not to be spellbound. He just didn't realize that she used elements of his past to influence his perception and make him fall in love. what is the reason?
Everything that happens in the story is related, so I must ask you to pay attention, listen to the voices, the smallest detail is important in the plot. Maybe that's why it has failed at the box office, many people don't want to see a movie that makes them think, or that entangles them with constant trips to past memories.

Antes de escribir esta crítica, he visto una noticia que dice que la película ha sido un fracaso en la recaudación de dinero, siendo catalogada como el peor estreno (hasta ahora) del año. Entiendo las razones de esta mala acogida. La película me ha gustado, pero creo que Lisa Joy se excede en la construcción de una trama que parece buscar impactar al espectador, pero que consigue caer en el pozo de su propia ambición.
¿No sabes quién es Lisa Joy? Es la cocreadora de la serie de HBO Westworld, junto a su marido Jonatahn Nolan. Sí, has leído bien
el apellido, el es hermano del consagrado Chritopher Nolan. En la serie de HBO se nota esa ambición por crear grandilocuencia en muchas escenas. Funciona en la serie, ahora en esta película no tanto. Pero Reminiscencia no es una mala película, simplemente no todo funciona correctamente, a pesar de un reparto encabezado por una estrella como Hugh Jackman.
Esta historia de ciencia ficción se centra en los recuerdos, en cómo los humanos somos esclavos de nuestro pasado. Nick cae en la trampa de la bella Mae, interpretada por la actriz Rebecca Ferguson, de la que es imposible no enamorarse, entiendo a Nick, era imposible no quedar hechizado. I also think that the film wanted to cover too much, I dare to suggest that the idea would work better as a miniseries. Lisa Joy writes and directs the film by herself, using familiar faces from the Westworld series as part of the cast, finding actress Angela Sarafyan playing Elsa Carin (a very small but important character) and Thandiwe Newton as Nick's partner and weapons expert and saving him from the predicaments he gets into.
The negative aspect is in the villains that appear throughout the story, who really don't have the necessary magnetism to create moments of high tension. Walter Sylvan appears very little and does not convey the power he supposedly has. Saint Joe, the drug dealer who also falls in love with Mae, follows the stereotypical super bad guy, who screams and is surrounded by idiots. At least the work of actor Daniel Wu is acceptable, but the worst of all is the corrupt cop Cyrus, played by actor Clif Curtis who I didn't like or like, I think it was a bad casting decision. The fights between that character and Nick were very poorly executed.
Reminiscence could have been better, but it is a regular frilm, with which you can have a good time if you like plots with trips to the past , this time using memories, there is no time travel, just reliving memories, with a love story and a bitter ending, in which the man who plays God , ends up sinking in his own creation. Something similar to what happens to the filmmaker with her film.
En ciertas escenas no sabemos si es la realidad o un recuerdo, este ir y venir, volver repetidamente a los recuerdos, puede enfadar a los espectadores, que quieren una historia más lineal. A mí me ha gustado, porque me encantan las tramas que intentan jugar con nosotros.
También creo que la película ha querido abarcar demasiado, me atrevo a sugerir que la idea funcionaría mejor como miniserie. Lisa Joy escribe y dirige la película ella sola, utilizando caras conocidas de la serie Westworld como parte del reparto, encontrando a la actriz Angela Sarafyan interpretando a Elsa Carin (un personaje muy pequeño pero importante) y a Thandiwe Newton como la compañera de Nick y experta en el manejo de armas y salvándole de los apuros en los que se mete.
El aspecto negativo está en los villanos que aparecen a lo largo de la historia, que realmente no tienen el magnetismo necesario para crear momentos de alta tensión. Walter Sylvan aparece muy poco y no transmite el poder que supuestamente tiene. Saint Joe, el traficante de drogas que también se enamora de Mae, sigue el estereotipo de los supermalos, que gritan y están rodeados de idiotas. Al menos el trabajo del actor Daniel Wu es aceptable, pero el peor de todo es el policía corrupto Cyrus, interpretado por el actor Clif Curtis que no me gustó ni me convenció, creo que fue una mala decisión de casting. Las peleas entre ese personaje y Nick estuvieron muy mal ejecutadas.
Reminiscencia podría haber sido mejor, pero es un frilm regular, con el que puedes pasar un buen rato si te gustan las tramas con viajes al pasado , esta vez utilizando los recuerdos, no hay viajes en el tiempo, solo reviviendo recuerdos, con una historia de amor y un final amargo, en el que el hombre que hace de Dios , acaba hundiéndose en su propia creación. Algo parecido a lo que le ocurre a la cineasta con su película.

Opinion
I was hesitant to see this movie, I'm not a big fan of this genre of adventures and less so when they are made by Disney. Already having that seal of the brand, I know it is a quality product, but more aimed at children, especially this one that is inspired by an attraction of the Disney parks.
But I have no regrets, I had a great time getting carried away by this fantasy story, which reminded me a lot of other classics, such as Indiana Jones, although in a female version. It also reminded me of The Mummy movies, especially because of McGregor's character who is very similar to the actor John Hannah in The Mummy, because they are the ones who give the funniest scenes. It also reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean, because of everything that has to do with the curse and the ghosts of the Spanish explorers.
I liked seeing Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez playing Aguirre, one of the villains. His appearances are not extensive, but I noticed him comfortable with the character and I'm glad he's doing these big budget films. Making good money in Hoollywood and doing his country proud. Here his manager did well to get him this role.

Tenía dudas de ver esta película, no soy muy fan de este género de aventuras y menos cuando están hechas por Disney. Ya teniendo ese sello de la marca, sé que es un producto de calidad, pero más dirigido a los niños, sobre todo este que está inspirado en una atracción de los parques Disney.
Pero no me arrepiento, lo pasé muy bien dejándome llevar por esta historia de fantasía, que me recordó mucho a otros clásicos, como Indiana Jones, aunque en versión femenina. También me recordó a las películas de La Momia, sobre todo por el personaje de McGregor que es muy parecido al del actor John Hannah en La Momia, porque son los que dan las escenas más divertidas. También me recordó a Piratas del Caribe, por todo lo que tiene que ver con la maldición y los fantasmas de los exploradores españoles.
Me gustó ver al actor venezolano Edgar Ramírez interpretando a Aguirre, uno de los villanos. Sus apariciones no son extensas, pero le noté cómodo con el personaje y me alegro de que haga estas películas de gran presupuesto. Ganando buen dinero en Hoollywood y haciendo que su país se sienta orgulloso. Aquí su representante hizo bien en conseguirle este papel.
There are other actors I have enjoyed seeing in small roles, they are the Spanish Dani Rovira and Quim Gutierrez. They are very famous in Spain and I am happy to see them in the American market. By the way, this movie features Paul Giamatti, who also has a character in the first movie I reviewed in this post. Rock plays Frank, the daring adventurer, who hides a big secret that is revealed halfway through the movie.
The real star of the movie and what really drives me to see it is Emily Blunt . The actress is the heart and soul of this movie. I loved her character and I am fascinated by how the actress comes off in the film. Without her, I wouldn't have liked this. The Rock was right when he said in an interview that Emily was fantastic in the movie.
I liked the adventure, The Rock and Emily don't have much chemistry as a loving couple, that was the only thing that didn't convince me, but I was so happy with the result of this product that I already wish they start shooting a sequel, but please give more prominence to Emily Blunt and her character Lily.
It is the most commercial of all those recommended and you can watch it with the whole family.
Hay otros actores que me ha gustado ver en papeles pequeños, son los españoles Dani Rovira y Quim Gutiérrez. Son muy famosos en España y me contenta verlos en el mercado americano. Por cierto, en esta película aparece Paul Giamatti, que también tiene un personaje en la primera película que reseñé en este post. La roca interpreta a Frank, el atrevido aventurero, que esconde un gran secreto que se revela a mitad de la película.
La verdadera estrella de la película y lo que realmente me impulsa a verla es Emily Blunt . La actriz es el alma de esta película. Me ha encantado su personaje y me fascina cómo sale la actriz en la película. Sin ella, esto no me hubiera gustado. The Rock tenía razón cuando dijo en una entrevista que Emily estaba fantástica en la película.
Me gustó la aventura, The Rock y Emily no tienen mucha química como pareja de enamorados, eso fue lo único que no me convenció, pero quedé tan contento con el resultado de este producto que ya deseo que empiecen a rodar una secuela, pero por favor, que le den más protagonismo a Emily Blunt y a su personaje Lily.
Es la más comercial de todas las recomendadas y la puedes ver con toda la familia.

These are the three movies I recommend you to watch this weekend, it's your decision if you watch them all or just the one that catches your attention. You can watch Jungle Cruise with the whole family, if you want to share it with the kids at home. The other two films are aimed at a more adult audience.
