What is the plot of Cry Macho.

Mike Milo is an old man who decades ago was a rodeo celebrity. The time of glory and fame in that world is now only in his memory and in the old photographs and newspaper clippings that adorn his house. He lives his last days on earth, without hope, widowed, alone, with a past of alcoholism, his last job was as a horse trainer, but a year after being fired, his former boss Howard Polk will ask him to do one last job. Milo must travel to Mexico to look for Howard's son, who he had with Leta, an alcoholic and dangerous Mexican woman, who does not take good care of the child, who is dedicated to committing misdeeds and cockfighting, using a champion rooster in the fights called Macho. My opinion

Cry Macho doesn't look like a movie from this era. Watching the classic camera movements and how the story unfolded, with situations that seemed a bit naive to me, I felt like I had stepped into a time machine and was in front of the TV in the 80's, being a kid enjoying and laughing at what happens in the movie.

The dangerous situations, being chased by the bad guys in the movie, were resolved easily and with light humor, something that is rarely seen nowadays. Does this mean that Clint is losing the rhythm? No. As I said at the beginning, there's nothing to demand, Eastwood makes the movie he wants to make, and that nostalgic, all-ages western vibe was what I liked about the film.

Even if we compare Cry Macho La Mula, his previous film, they seem to be made in different times. Of course, the simplicity and classic style that characterizes Eastwood's films can be seen in every frame.

Cry Macho no parece una película de esta época. Al ver los clásicos movimientos de cámara y cómo se desarrollaba la historia, con situaciones que me parecían un poco ingenuas, me sentía como si hubiera entrado en una máquina del tiempo y estuviera frente al televisor en los años 80, siendo un niño disfrutando y riéndome de lo que ocurre en la película.

Las situaciones de peligro, al ser perseguidos por los malos de la película, se resolvían de forma fácil y con humor ligero, algo que se ve poco hoy en día. ¿Significa esto que Clint está perdiendo el ritmo? No. Como decía al principio, no hay nada que exigir, Eastwood hace la película que quiere hacer, y ese ambiente de western nostálgico y dirigido a todos los públicos fue lo que me gustó de la película.

Incluso si comparamos Cry Macho La Mula, su anterior película, parecen hechas en épocas diferentes. Por supuesto, la sencillez y el estilo clásico que caracteriza a las películas de Eastwood se puede ver en cada fotograma.

The character introduction is wonderfully done, without Milo's character having to do much talking. There is a first sequence in which the others talk about his past, everything happens in the office, where he will be fired from his job, quickly the camera will go through Milo's house, only showing photographs and objects, without having spent five minutes of footage, we already know Milo's whole life, everything he was, what he lost and the extra time he is living in this hell called life. This can only be achieved by a master who knows all the tricks of cinematic storytelling and gets us right into the great adventure.

Adventure that we have seen many times in different forms, two strangers on this occasion a 90 year old man and a boy who is not yet old enough to buy beer in America. They begin a journey, in a stolen car, to cross the U.S.-Mexican border and the boy is reunited with his gringo father, a ranch and horse owner.

As is typical, both characters will have confrontations, arguments, fights, but they will end up getting to know each other, a similar affection to that of father and son. Also on this trip they will learn from each other to outwit the villains who pursue them. But they will not travel alone either, with them will be Macho, the rooster that gives the film its title, a third "character" that the boy loves and will not leave for anything in the world.

This trip will lead them to hide in a village, where they will meet Mata, a Mexican woman, widowed and who has also lost her daughters and only lives with her granddaughters, running the village restaurant. She will be a secondary character for the two outlaws, who seem to be hiding from something. Amusing situations and perhaps the hope of a new life, seem to glimpse on Milo's path, but is this man, sunk in his own world, willing to start over or will he sacrifice the last chance that fate seems to grant him?

La presentación del personaje está maravillosamente hecha, sin que el personaje de Milo tenga que hablar mucho. Hay una primera secuencia en la que los demás hablan de su pasado, todo sucede en la oficina, donde será despedido de su trabajo, rápidamente la cámara recorrerá la casa de Milo, solo mostrando fotografías y objetos, sin haber pasado cinco minutos de metraje, ya conocemos toda la vida de Milo, todo lo que fue, lo que perdió y el tiempo extra que está viviendo en este infierno llamado vida. Esto sólo lo puede conseguir un maestro que conozca todos los trucos de la narración cinematográfica y nos meta de lleno en la gran aventura.

Aventura que hemos visto muchas veces en diferentes formas, dos desconocidos en esta ocasión un hombre de 90 años y un niño que aún no tiene edad para comprar cerveza en Estados Unidos. Comienzan un viaje, en un coche robado, para cruzar la frontera mexicano-estadounidense y el niño se reencuentra con su padre gringo, dueño de un rancho y de caballos.

Como es típico, ambos personajes tendrán enfrentamientos, discusiones, peleas, pero acabarán cogiéndose cariño, un cariño similar al de padre e hijo. También en este viaje aprenderán el uno del otro para burlar a los villanos que les persiguen. Pero tampoco viajarán solos, con ellos estará Macho, el gallo que da título a la película, un tercer "personaje" al que el niño quiere y no dejará por nada del mundo.

Este viaje les llevará a esconderse en un pueblo, donde conocerán a Mata, una mujer mexicana, viuda y que también ha perdido a sus hijas y sólo vive con sus nietas, regentando el restaurante del pueblo. Ella será un personaje secundario para los dos forajidos, que parecen esconderse de algo. Situaciones divertidas y quizás la esperanza de una nueva vida, parecen vislumbrarse en el camino de Milo, pero ¿está este hombre, hundido en su propio mundo, dispuesto a empezar de nuevo o sacrificará la última oportunidad que el destino parece concederle?

Cry Macho will not go down in history as Eastwood's best, but it is already part of his filmography. It is a minor film, maybe not everyone will like it and the story may seem very simple, but it is impossible to recognize that the way the scenes are shot, with that classism almost nonexistent nowadays, is Eastwood's way of seducing us with the camera.

I only hope that this movie man will continue a long season more in our, telling stories, giving us entertainment, no matter that a sector of Hollywood looks at him with bad eyes, because of his political tendency What can they expect? He is 100% American. An incredible actor, filmmaker and even musician. A living legend who is already part of the history of the seventh art.

Se nota en las últimas películas de Eastwood que está siendo más amable con los protagonistas, dándoles una oportunidad de redención, enmendando los errores del pasado y dejando un mensaje de esperanza. Debe ser cosa de la edad, atrás quedaron aquellas historias donde la muerte, la tragedia y la desesperación eran los elementos de cierre, ahora hay más vida, nuevos comienzos, esperanza y amor.

Cry Macho no pasará a la historia como la mejor de Eastwood, pero ya forma parte de su filmografía. Es una película menor, quizás no guste a todo el mundo y la historia puede parecer muy simple, pero es imposible reconocer que la forma de rodar las escenas, con ese clasismo casi inexistente hoy en día, es la forma que tiene Eastwood de seducirnos con la cámara.

Sólo espero que este hombre de cine siga una larga temporada más en nuestro, contando historias, dándonos entretenimiento, sin importar que un sector de Hollywood le mire con malos ojos, por su tendencia política ¿Qué pueden esperar? Es 100% americano. Un increíble actor, cineasta e incluso músico. Una leyenda viva que ya forma parte de la historia del séptimo arte.

There is something his mother forces him to do. Rafo is played by actor Eduardo Minett, known in his country for participating in several soap operas, with this film he takes a big step to Hollywood. This boy was not even born when Eastowood was already a star, a great opportunity to work with a master!

Marta, the widowed owner of the village restaurant, a woman with a strong character, but who will immediately feel sympathy for this strange couple, the old man and the boy. She will not hesitate to help them and Milo will not be able to avoid that an old feeling that seemed forgotten, is reborn in his heart.
