La noche del pasado domingo se llevaron a cabo la premiación de los Emmys en la ciudad de Los Angeles, una noche en donde se busca reconocer las mejores series, actrices, actores, directores, guionistas y todo lo que envuelve la producción y dirección de una serie de televisión o de cualquier plataforma de streaming. Como cinéfilo me gustaría dar mis impresiones sobre los ganadores más destacados así que sin más vamos y hablemos un poco de lo que fue aquella noche especial.
Last Sunday night the Emmy Awards took place in the city of Los Angeles, a night where they seek to recognize the best series, actresses, actors, directors, screenwriters and everything that involves the production and direction of a television series or any streaming platform. As a moviegoer I would like to give my impressions about the most outstanding winners, so without further ado, let's talk a little bit about what was that special night.

Sin duda alguna la serie más ganadora de la noche fue The Crown con su cuarta temporada en lo que se refiere a la categoría dramática con 7 estatuillas. Esta serie desde siempre ha pintado como una de esas que hay que ver si o si por todo lo que la rodea, su historia, su ambientación, la connotación histórica que tiene pero sobretodo por los grandes actores y actrices que en ella hacen vida.
Undoubtedly the most winning series of the night was The Crown with its fourth season in the drama category with 7 statuettes. This series has always been one of those that you have to see if or if for everything that surrounds it, its history, its setting, the historical connotation that it has but above all for the great actors and actresses who make life in it.
Para muestra la ganadora a la mejor actriz dramática, Olivia Colman, quien además ya fue ganadora de un Oscar en el 2019. Colman en esta serie interpreta a la Reina Isabel II en su mediana edad lo cual no hace falta decir que el nivel de interpretación que hace a lo largo de esta temporada es digno de una actriz de este calibre. La cosa es que competía con otras grandes "pesos pesados" como Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid Tale), su compañera de serie Emma Corrin o Uzo Aduba (In Treatment) que perfectamente hubiesen podido llevarse el premio.
For example, the winner for best dramatic actress, Olivia Colman, who was also already an Oscar winner in 2019. Colman in this series plays Queen Elizabeth II in her middle age which goes without saying that the level of acting she does throughout this season is worthy of an actress of this caliber. The thing is that she was competing with other great "heavyweights" such as Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid Tale), her series partner Emma Corrin or Uzo Aduba (In Treatment) who could have perfectly taken the award.
Si bien es verdad que Moss ya se llevó un Emmy por su papel de June siempre voy a querer que siga ganando porque el nivel de interpretación de ese personaje es bárbaro. Aún así, Olivia Colman es una digna ganadora de una gran serie.
While it's true that Moss already won an Emmy for her role as June, I will always want her to keep winning because the level of performance of that character is barbaric. Still, Olivia Colman is a worthy winner of a great series.

Como ganador a mejor actor dramático tenemos a Josh O'Connor quien es el príncipe Carlos en dicha serie. En esta categoría creo que no había mucho que decir, en mi opinión era un premio que se esperaba dado el gran papel que hace en The Crown por lo que fue el vencedor para obtener su primer Emmy. Otro posible favorito podía haber sido Billy Porter (Pose) además de ya ser un ganador en el 2019 pero no pudo ser y es que FX culminó la serie con la tercera temporada.
As winner for best dramatic actor we have Josh O'Connor who is Prince Charles in that series. In this category I think there was not much to say, in my opinion it was an expected award given the great role he plays in The Crown so he was the winner to get his first Emmy. Another possible favorite could have been Billy Porter (Pose) in addition to already being a winner in 2019 but it could not be and is that FX culminated the series with the third season.
Para culminar con esta categoría dramática tenemos que decir que tanto la actriz como el actor de reparto de igual manera se lo llevaron personajes de The Crown. En el caso de las mujeres la triunfadora fue Gillian Anderson y en el masculino Tobias Menzies. La pelea por ser la mejor actriz de reparto estaba realmente disputado ya que había MUCHA calidad en las nominaciones siendo (The Handmaids Tale) como la serie con más participación. Actrices como Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, Yvonne Strahovski o las mismas compañeras de Anderson, Helena Bonham Carter y Emerald Fennell.
To finish with this dramatic category, we have to say that both the actress and supporting actor were equally won by characters from The Crown. In the case of women the winner was Gillian Anderson and in the male category Tobias Menzies. The fight for Best Supporting Actress was really hotly contested as there was a LOT of quality in the nominations being (The Handmaids Tale) as the series with the most participation. Actresses like Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, Yvonne Strahovski or Anderson's own co-stars, Helena Bonham Carter and Emerald Fennell.

Después de más de 20 años Gillian Anderson consigue otro Emmy y realmente fue uno bien merecido porque de las mejores cosas que he visto últimamente ha sido su interpretación de Margaret Thatcher, realmente impecable. En cuanto a los hombre pues Tobias Menzies, el Duque de Edimburgo en la serie, si fue un poco sorpresiva que ganara ya que se esperaba que lo hiciera Michael K. Williams (Territorio Lovecraft), actor que falleció hace unas semanas atrás, de hecho estaba casi cerrada las apuestas por Williams pero no fue así.
After more than 20 years Gillian Anderson gets another Emmy and it was really a well deserved one because one of the best things I've seen lately was her interpretation of Margaret Thatcher, really impeccable. As for the men, Tobias Menzies, the Duke of Edinburgh in the series, it was a bit of a surprise that he won because it was expected that Michael K. Williams (Lovecraft Territory), actor who died a few weeks ago, in fact it was almost closed the bets for Williams but it was not.

Llegamos a la comedia con Ted Lasso como la serie que dominó toda la categoría con 4 premios entre ellos mejor serie de comedia, mejor actor principal, mejor actriz de reparto y mejor actor también de reparto. Con las series con la competía a mi parecer había solo dos que le podía arrebatar el premio: Hacks y The Flight Attendant.
We arrived at the comedy category with Ted Lasso as the series that dominated the entire category with 4 awards including best comedy series, best lead actor, best supporting actress and best supporting actor. With the series with which it competed in my opinion there were only two that could snatch the award: Hacks and The Flight Attendant.
Hay dos temporadas de Ted Lasso y confieso que solo he visto la primera la cual me gustó bastante, es muy buena la verdad. De la segunda no puedo decir lo mismo porque sinceramente no me gustó tanto como la primera, no es mala ni nada por el estilo pero no me atrapó como me imaginaba.
There are two seasons of Ted Lasso and I confess that I have only seen the first one which I liked quite a lot, it's really good. I can't say the same about the second one because I honestly didn't like it as much as the first one, it's not bad or anything like that but it didn't catch me as I imagined it would.

CERO competencia en esta categoría para Sudeikis, estaba más que claro que ganaría este premio. La comedia es algo que se la da de forma innata además de que su papel en la serie es otra de las cosas buenas que he visto últimamente. Excelentemente merecido este Emmy para él.
ZERO competition in this category for Sudeikis, it was more than clear that he would win this award. Comedy is something that comes innately to him plus his role in the series is another one of the good things I've seen lately. Excellently deserved this Emmy for him.
Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein!
Los ganadores a mejor actriz y mejor de actor de reparto. Una dupla increíble en donde la competencia que tenía si era un poco más fuerte que el anterior. Hannah luchaba contra la hegemonía de Saturday Night Live (Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant y Cecily Strong) pero aún así se llevó el tan ansiado premio. Rebecca, como se llama en la serie, es de esos personajes de comedia que son tan poderosos pero cómicos a la vez que da mucho gusto verla, típica mujer en los cuarenta que no busca aparentar nada y ser ella misma.
The winners for best actress and best supporting actor. An incredible duo where the competition they had was a bit stronger than the previous one. Hannah was fighting against the hegemony of Saturday Night Live (Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong) but still took the coveted award. Rebecca, as she is called in the series, is one of those comedy characters that are so powerful but comical at the same time that she is a joy to watch, a typical woman in her forties who is not looking to pretend anything and just be herself.
En cuanto a Brett Goldstein tampoco es que tuvo el camino fácil al premio, tuvo que superar a algunos de sus compañeros de serie. El guionista y también productor de la serie quien hace a Roy Kent muchas veces decía que no esperaban mucho de Ted Lasso y que sus expectativas eran bastantes bajas. No me quiero imaginar si realmente estaban esperando el premio, la cosa es que al igual que con su compañera fue uno que a mi criterio estuvo bien entregado.
As for Brett Goldstein, he didn't have an easy road to the award either, he had to overcome some of his co-stars. The writer and producer of the series who plays Roy Kent often said that they did not expect much from Ted Lasso and that their expectations were quite low. I do not want to imagine if they were really expecting the award, the thing is that as with his partner it was one that in my opinion was well delivered.
Como premios adicionales podemos decir que The Queen's Gambit se llevó el premio a mejor Miniserie del Año dejando atrás a Wandavision y The Undoing. Miren que me gustaron esas dos ultimas pero Gambito de Dama estuvo en otro nivel, sin miedo a equivocarme es de lo mejor que he visto en lo que va de año con una Anya Taylor-Joy espectacular; es que todo, la historia y ambientación fue algo que estuvo de diez.
As additional awards we can say that The Queen's Gambit took the award for best Miniseries of the Year leaving behind Wandavision and The Undoing. I liked those last two but Lady's Gambit was on another level, without fear of being wrong it's one of the best I've seen so far this year with a spectacular Anya Taylor-Joy; everything, the story and setting was something that was ten out of ten.

En términos generales fueron unos premios en donde los ganadores eran los que en su mayoría se esperaban que ganaran salvo un par de excepciones. Hubo grandes revelaciones como la serie de comedia HACKS, que no la he visto pero ya está apuntada para hacerlo y bueno el gran dominio de The Crown que no esperaba que fuera tan apabullante.
Overall it was an awards show where the winners were the ones that were mostly expected to win with a couple of exceptions. There were some great revelations like the comedy series HACKS, which I haven't seen but it is already targeted to do so and well the great dominance of The Crown which I didn't expect to be so overwhelming.
Por otro lado hacer series de comedia es difícil y complicado, por eso es que no se habla muchos de ellas pero Ted Lasso si les digo que vale mucho la pena verla, es un humor que no se ve con frecuencia hoy en día. En conclusión, buenos premios con mejores ganadores.
On the other hand, making comedy series is difficult and complicated, that is why not many people talk about them, but Ted Lasso is worth watching, it is a humor that is not often seen nowadays. In conclusion, good awards with better winners.
