In these pandemic times, it is difficult to take our children out to play as freely as we once did. Allowing them to participate in sports with other children their age without any restrictions is almost impossible.

For us as a family it has been a little difficult to cope with the pandemic with our children because as a result of this our little ones have become more sedentary, they are more obsessed with the tablet, cell phones, and computers. But who wouldn't be, if they are only at home without being able to go out? Although we try to get them to participate in family activities and do certain manual activities to distract them, this is not enough.

A few weeks ago I took a close look at my two children and realized that they are really fat because of their sedentary lifestyle and I said: I have to do something so that they stop this sedentary life and then they don't get complicated with high-risk diseases due to obesity. Besides feeling guilty for not having noticed this situation before and because I like to exercise and since the pandemic began I do it at home. So I decided to design a circuit of about an hour and I started to implement it daily with my little ones and sometimes my husband also joins us and participates. It serves us all because we share as a family and burn some calories in company with our children.

My children are of school age, they are six and eight years old. It is precisely at this age that they need to exercise to strengthen their physical skills such as running, kicking, jumping, catching things in the air. Performing these movements keeps them attentive and they become more focused when doing physical activity. In addition, they will have an emotionally healthy life and healthy physical development.

I was doing some more research on the benefits of physical activity in children and I want to share it with you:

  • Their bones and muscles grow healthy and strong
  • Strengthen the heart
  • They have better posture and balance
  • Helps them stay at their ideal weight
  • Grow with self-esteem
  • Relieve stress caused by confinement

So all you have to do is cheer up and get organized with the chores around the house. That hour is only dedicated to the little ones and the family.

Below I will show you the circuit I do with my little ones. You can do it in an open place or at home.

Materials
  • A ball, can be a soccer ball or any other ball.
  • A yoga mat
  • Two garbage cans
  • And the desire to play and have fun

Warm-up

Before doing any physical activity it is important to warm up.
We decided to do a gentle jog and several exercises to warm up our muscles.

inCollage_20210831_224417560.jpg

final separator.jpg

Then we begin to make a rotating movement with the shoulders, forward and backward. We count to ten.

inCollage_20210831_223150337.jpg

We place our arms like my beautiful genie and move to one side and then the other. We must count to ten.

inCollage_20210831_223028228.jpg

Then we raise our arms. Then we lower the trunk and arms. Doing 10 repetitions

inCollage_20210831_222553563.jpg

We clicked our heels and counted to ten.

inCollage_20210831_222829890.jpg

Then we touch one foot on one side and then the other and count to ten.

inCollage_20210831_234326364.jpg

final separator.jpg

These exercises are important for children to improve their ability to catch objects in the air. They also improve their attention.

inCollage_20210831_223548323.jpg

end separator.jpg

The child should touch one end and then the other quickly. They must be attentive when throwing the ball and then kick it. It is fun for them and tires a lot.

inCollage_20210831_224029674.jpg

final separator.jpg

With this exercise, the children practice kicking the ball.

inCollage_20210831_224202378.jpg

final separator.jpg

Finally, my boys did five sit-ups, as he has a hard time doing it. Little by little you will notice that your endurance improves, you will perform better posture and you will increase your repetitions.

inCollage_20210831_223421452.jpg

final separator.jpg

At the end of the circuit, they can play whatever they want. This time there were other children in the park and they took the opportunity to share playing kick the ball, hide and seek, and hot potato (it is a game where participants pass the ball to each other while another with their eyes closed says "hot potato" many times until they say "it's burned". The one who gets the ball loses. It's a lot of fun 😂

inCollage_20210831_225616472.jpg

final separator.jpg

This is what my kids looked like from playing and running around. They had a great time and burned a lot of calories that day.

inCollage_20210831_224646336.jpg

final separator.jpg

With this practice, I want my children to return to a more dynamic routine and to fall in love with doing any physical activity or sport so that they can become healthy adults with habits of taking care of themselves. Let's hope that the pandemic passes quickly so that our little ones can start practicing any sport without any limitation. But while this situation continues, this type of circuit can be an option so that they do not gain weight, acquire resistance and obtain skills according to their growth and age.

I hope you find this post and the exercises useful.

Thank you very much for reading me. 😘
