En nuestra casa , tenemos la bendición de tener una piscina 🌊, que cuando en Venezuela la crisis no era tan aguda logramos construir, para nosotros es una gran forma de distracción y de pasar el calor ☀de la ciudad de Maturin .

Desde que nuestro hijo nacio , lo acostumbramos a estar dentro de la piscina , y tanto se acostumbro , que si fuera por él pasaria el dia dentro de ella .

In our house we are blessed to have a swimming pool, that when in Venezuela, the crisis was not so acute we managed to build, for us it is a great form of distraction and to pass the heat of the city of Maturin.

Since our son was born, we got him used to being in the pool, and he got so used to it that if it were up to him he would spend the whole day in it.

Tanto mi esposo como yo hemos tenido experiencias algo traumáticas con respecto al agua y su profundidad.

Mi esposo nacio en el estado sucre y es una ciudad playera ,asi que se acostumbro a ir a la playa a nadar , considero que es un exelente nadador , pero el me cuenta que cuando era adolescente, tuvo una mala experiencia yendo a la playa con algunos compañeros de clases ,y nadaron a un peñasco cercano , al parecer los compañeros lo lanzaron al mar entre juegos y casi se ahoga , el cuenta que en medio de su desesperación logró aferrarse a una roca , pero la distancia que tenía que nadar de regreso era larga , entonces recordo que podia flotar y asi fue que pudo llegar .

Both my husband and I have had somewhat traumatic experiences with respect to water and its depth.

My husband was born in the state of Sucre and it is a beach town, so he got used to go to the beach to swim, I consider him an excellent swimmer, but he tells me that when he was a teenager, he had a **bad** experience going to the beach with some classmates , They swam to a nearby cliff , apparently the classmates threw him into the sea between games and he almost drowned , he says that in desperation he managed to cling to a rock , but the distance he had to swim back was long , then he remembered that he could float and so he was able to get there.

Mi historia es bastante similar y es que cuando tenia 9 años de edad fui a un campamento en otro estado del pais , muy hermoso todo y alli había una piscina enorme , y una soga que impedía que los niños pasaran , y yo siempre tuve miedo a las piscinas, pero en medio del compartir , no se en que momento pase la soga y el agua me paso por encima y estaba literalmente ahogandome , solo sentía como el agua me llevaba hacia atrás , cuando estaba a punto de golpear mi cabeza contra la pared, un salvavidas me rescato y por eso hoy puedo contarlo.

My story is quite similar and when I was 9 years old I went to a camp in another state of the country, very beautiful and there was a huge pool, and a rope that prevented children from passing, and I was always afraid of pools, but in the middle of sharing, I do not know at what point I passed the rope and the water went over me and I was literally drowning, I just felt like the water took me back, when I was about to hit my head against the wall, a lifeguard rescued me and so today I can tell it.

Entonces para nosotros despues de haber vivido esta clase de experiencias , era sumamente importante que nuestro hijo supiera nadar y hacerlo bien .

Desde que khael cumplio los seis meses, nosotros hicinos que perdiera el miedo al agua, mi esposo lo introducía completo debajo del agua y lo sacaba rapido , y mi mamá a veces veía estas escenas y como toda abuela preocupada se asustaba muchísimo .

So for us, after having lived this kind of experience, it was extremely important for our son to know how to swim and do it well.

Since Khael was six months old, we made him lose his fear of water, my husband put him completely under the water and pulled him out quickly, and my mother sometimes saw these scenes and like any worried grandmother she was very scared.

Luego para cuando tenia un año y medio , compramos varios flotadores de todas las formas para que el se animara a querer estar dentro de la piscina , pero de alguna forma independiente .

Then by the time he was a year and a half old, we bought several floats of all shapes so that he would be encouraged to want to be in the pool, but somehow independent.

Compramos varios flotadores que nos animaron a hacer su segundo y tercer cumpleaños, como una piscinada , él estaba encantado , porque tenía a todos sus amigos con el dentro de la piscina y paso casi todo el dia alli ,todos disfrutamos muchisimo ese día .

We bought several floats that encouraged us to make his second and third birthday, as a pool party, he was delighted, because he had all his friends with him in the pool and spent most of the day there, we all enjoyed a lot that day.

A pesar de que a khael le encanta todo lo que tiene que ver con la piscina , el a entendido claramemte que NO, debe meterse solo dentro de ella , que siempre tiene que estar acompañado de un adulto, muchas veces el insiste para entrar a la piscina y puede ser que estemos ocupados y le expresamos que no se puede en ese momento , que hay un tiempo para cada actividad del día y de verdad él a logrado entender esto y a nosotros nos da tranquilidad .

Although Khael loves everything that has to do with the pool, he has clearly understood that he should not go into the pool alone, that he must always be accompanied by an adult, many times he insists to enter the pool and we may be busy and we tell him that we can not at that time, that there is a time for each activity of the day and he has really understood this and it gives us peace of mind.

A veces cuando se comienza a enseñar un deporte a un niño , al no ver resultados inmediatos lo sacamos de ese deporte y podemos llegar sentirnos desmotivados , pero por experiencia propia mi esposo y yo podemos decir que esa no es la solución .

Le estamos enseñando a nadar a khael desde que tiene 6 meses de edad y no fue sino hasta que cumplio los 4 años que nos dimos cuenta que todo ese esfuerzo habia dado resultado.

Fue como si un dia el amanecio, nadando de repente , ese dia nos sorprendimos nos alegramos , y nos dimos cuenta que sabia hacer muchas cosas , el nadaba , flotaba, se hundía, aguantaba la respiración y hasta ese dia aprendio a nadar de espalda .

Sometimes when we start teaching a sport to a child when we don't see immediate results we take him out of the sport and we can become demotivated, but from my own experience my husband and I can say that this is not the solution.

We have been teaching Khael to swim since he was 6 months old and it wasn't until he turned 4 years old that we realized that all that effort had paid off.

It was as if one day he woke up, suddenly swimming, that day we were surprised, we were happy, and we realized that he knew how to do many things, he swam, floated, sank, held his breath and even that day he learned to swim on his back.

Fue como que todo lo que nos habiamos esforzado por enseñarle de repente surtio efecto y me sentí sumamente orgullosa de mi niño.

Esta experiencia me hizo reflexionar en el hecho de no cansarnos de enseñarle a nuestros hijos porque todonuestro esfuerzo en algún momento que menos imaginemos dará resultados .

It was like everything we had tried so hard to teach him suddenly took effect and I felt so proud of my child.

This experience made me reflect on the fact that we should never get tired of teaching our children because all our efforts will pay off at some point that we least expect.
