I could not miss this opportunity to tell you my story with Autism, I am not only a blue mommy, I am also the aunt of a beautiful little blue boy.
11 years ago I started teaching in a homework school, during that school year, I had some children with special conditions, among them 2 were autistic. That led me to know about autism and learn how to treat them. That's how I could realize that Santiago had this condition.
No podía dejar pasar esta oportunidad para contarles Mi historía con el Autismo, es que no solo soy una mamita azul, también soy tía de un hermoso niño azulito.
Hace 11 años comencé a dar clases en una escuela de tareas dirigidas, durante ese año escolar, tuve algunos niños con condiciones especiales, entre ellos 2 eran autistas. Eso me llevó a conocer sobre el autismo y aprender como tratarlos. Fue así como pude darme cuenta que Santiago tenía esa condición.

With my little daughter Amelie Sophia, it was different. From a very early age I began to notice things in her development that caught my attention, my husband's and even her pediatrician's attention.
I found out I was pregnant with Amelie, when she was almost 4 months pregnant 😱🤣 Amazing! It almost happened to me like the ones on TV, "I didn't know I was pregnant", my pregnancy was very complicated, I've told this before.
When she was born, for my second baby, she was very small, weighing 2.5 kilograms and early. Her crying had to be stimulated at birth, she had to be stimulated to eat and she was never breastfed.
Con mi pequeña hija Amelie Sophia, fue diferente. Desde muy temprana edad comencé a notar cosas en su desarrollo que llamaban mi atención, la de mi esposo e incluso de su pediatra.
Me enteré que estaba embarazada de Amelie, cuando ha tenía casi 4 meses de gestación 😱🤣 ¡Sorprendente! Casi me pasa como a las de la televisión, "No sabía que estaba embarazada", mi embarazo fue muy complicado, ya he contado esto antes.
Cuando ella nació, para ser mi segunda bebé, era muy pequeña, pesó 2.5 kilogramos y antes de tiempo. Hubo que estimular su llanto al nacer, habia que hacerle estimulos para que comiera y nunca recibió lactancia materna.
Amelie, one month old
While it is true that every child is different from another and their development is also different, but there are parameters of development and growth that every child must meet, such as lifting the head, crawling, sitting or clapping.
Amelie did not crawl, she did not clap her hands at the right age and when she finally learned, with time she forgot it and I began to notice that she went backwards, moved forward and then forgot what she had learned.
The situation in the country (Venezuela was also difficult) and her pediatrician recommended us to take her to an Endocrinologist, since her height and weight were well below her age. We were never able to take her for economic reasons and we were forced to migrate.
Si bien es cierto, cada niño es diferente a otro y su desarrollo también lo es, pero existen parametros de desarrollo y crecimiento, que todo niño debe cumplir, como levantar la cabeza, gatear, sentarse o aplaudir.
Amelie no gateo, no aplaudio a la edad que le correspondía y cuando al fin aprendió, con el tiempo lo olvidó y comencé a notar que retrocedía, a avanzaba y luego olvidaba lo aprendido.
La situación en el país (Venezuela estaba además difícil) y su pediatra nos recomendó llevarla a un Endocrinólogo, ya que su talla y peso eran muy por debajo de su edad. Nunca pudimos llevarla por cuestiones económicas y nos vimos obligados a emigrar.
Amelie 1st Birthday
Before migrating, when Amelie was a few months old, she fell twice out of a 750 truck, which her father owned. While the truck was parked and even with my husband inside, she fell off the second time. The first time was with me.
The biggest scare was that she was inside a baby carrier and it was upside down, she was not visible, nor did she make any noise, I thought the worst, my younger brother ran out to help me and when I lifted the carrier, Amelie was smiling, with a small scratch on her head. What a scare!
Antes de migrar, cuando Amelie tenia unos meses de nacida, se cayó en dos ocaciones de un camión 750, que tenía su papá. Mientras el camión estaba estacionado e incluso con mi esposo adentro, ella se cayó la segunda vez. La primera vez fue conmigo.
El susto más grande, era que ella estaba dentro de un portabebés y este quedó bocabajo, ella no se veía, ni hacía ningún tipo de rudio, llegué a pensar lo peor, mi hermano menor, salió corriendo a auxiliarme y al levantar el portabebés, Amelie estaba sonriendo, con un pequeño raspón en su cabeza. ¡Tremendo susto!
After the fall, from the truck
When Amelie was two years old, we migrated to Ecuador, we are currently here, upon arrival she immediately received medical attention thanks to the help of an uncle who was the director of the hospital.
During that time her diagnosis was ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder and speech), she received therapies and medical control, at the end of her first sections, the secretary who scheduled appointments, did not re-enter the system, due to the fact that Amelie was Venezuelan. We waited for 2 years for the call from the hospital, but it never came.
However, as nothing escapes God and in spite of the delay she had, not receiving therapies and medical attention during this type, one day I took her to a health center, for a stye and the doctor who attended her entered her into the system again and we started once again with the therapies.
Cuando Amelie iba dos años, migramos a Ecuador, actualmente estamos aquí, al llegar inmediatamente recibió atención médica gracias a la ayuda de un tío que fue director del hospital.
Durante ese entonces su diagnóstico era TDAH (Trastorno de déficit de Atención y habla), recibía terapias y control médico, al terminar sus primeras secciones, la secretaría que agendaba turnos, no la volvió a ingresar al sistema, por el hecho de Amelie ser venezolana. Esperamos por 2 años la llamada del hospital que no llegó.
Sin embargo, como a Dios no se le escapa nada y a pesar del atraso que tuvo, al no recibir terapias y atención médica durante este tipo, un día la lleve aun centro de salud,por un orzuelo y la Doctora que la atendió la ingreso al sistema nuevamente y comenzamos una vez más con las terapias.

On December 24, 2020, we got confirmation of what I already suspected and told my husband was possible, Amelie is autistic. We accepted it and are doing everything as parents to help her move forward.
Amelie is currently 5 years old, does not speak, wears diapers and once again, her therapies were suspended for a few months, this time due to covid-19 and the amount of contagions in our city.
At home we do our best, since adapting a place for her is quite expensive. We do not want her to be delayed once again, since in 2 months of therapies she has advanced a lot, that is why we are constantly devising plans to help her development.
El 24 de diciembre del 2020, nos confirmaron lo que yo ya sospechaba y le decía a mi esposo que era posible, Amelie es autista. Lo aceptamos y estamos haciendo todo como padres para ayudarla a seguir adelante.
Amelie actualmente tiene 5 años, no habla, usa pañales y una vez más, sus terapias fueron suspendidas por unos meses, en esta ocasión debido al covid-19 y la cantidad de contagios que hay en nuestra ciudad.
En casa hacemos lo posible, ya que adaptar un lugar para ella, es bastante costoso. No queremos que se atrase una vez más, ya que en 2 meses de tarapias avanzó mucho, por ello estamos ideando planes constantemente para ayudar su desarrollo.

If you are a family member of a blue person, not only show respect, patience and love towards them, but also show support, understanding and give lots of encouragement to their parents or whoever is in charge of their upbringing. Certainly the blue world is magical, but just as in the vast sea there is calm, there are also turbulent waters.
Si eres familiar de una persona azul, no solo muestra respeto, paciencia y amor hacia él, muestra también apoyo, comprensión y da mucho ánimo a sus padres o a quién esté a cargo de su crianza. Ciertamente el mundo azul es mágico, pero así como en el inmeso mar hay calma, también hay aguas turbulentas.
