[ESP|ENG] Diagnóstico - Tratamiento y Terapias de Amelie || Mi Mundo TEA

Cuando hablamos de Autismo, pareciera que nuestra mente crea una barrera ante lo desconocido y esto hace que nos resulte un tanto difícil de entender.

Ningún padre quiere oír que su hijo tiene una condición, que más que especial, lo hace diferente al resto.

When we talk about Autism, it seems that our mind creates a barrier to the unknown and this makes it somewhat difficult to understand.

No parent wants to hear that their child has a condition that, more than special, makes him/her different from the rest.

Sin embargo, más allá de cualquier diagnóstico, cuando te conviertes en padre, existe un miedo mucho mayor, que no se compara con nada, escuchar que nos digan que los hemos perdidos. El miedo más grande de un padre es ver morir a su hijo.

Un diagnóstico es aceptable, se puede tratar con amor y mucha paciencia, pero la muerte es irreparable y no tiene consuelo.

However, beyond any diagnosis, when you become a parent, there is a much greater fear, unlike anything else, of hearing that we have lost them. A parent's greatest fear is watching their child die.

A diagnosis is acceptable, it can be treated with anor and a lot of patience, but death is irreparable and has no consolation.

Como ya lo he dicho antes, nos enteranos que Amelie Sophia, tiene quiste aracnoideo en el lado izquierdo de su cabeza, cuando ella tenía 2 años y medio, una cosa llevó a la otra y entre estudios, consultas médicas y terapias, el 24 de diciembre del 2020, fue diagnosticada con espectro autista.

As I have said before, we found out that Amelie Sophia, has arachnoid cyst on the left side of her head, when she was 2 and a half years old, one thing led to another and between studies, medical consultations and therapies, on December 24, 2020, she was diagnosed with autism spectrum.

A few weeks ago they gave me the report of her full diagnosis where they imply other things to her development, you can read more about it in the post:

Como padres aceptamos que nuestra hija tiene una condición y aun cuando a mi esposo le costó un poco aceptarlo al inicio, es como el dice: "Somos una familia de 5, nosotros 4 con amor, vamos a ayudar a Amelie".

Tenemos muchas dudas sí, lo más que pedimos a Dios es escucharla hablar, las madres odiamos que nuestros hijos digan todo el día "mamá, mamá, mamá", pero yo pagaría por oír a mi pequeña Amelie decirlo.

As parents we accept that our daughter has a condition and even though my husband found it a little hard to accept it at the beginning, it is like he says: "We are a family of 5, the 4 of us with love, we are going to help Amelie".

We have a lot of doubts yes, the most we ask God is to hear her talk, we mothers hate that our children say all day long "mommy, mommy, mommy", but I would pay to hear my little Amelie do it.

TRATAMIENTOS:

A la edad de 3 años, le mandó el neurólogo que la atendía para aquel entonces, unas gotitas para ayudarla a dormir. La idea era darle 8 gotitas en su leche o agua a las 8p.m. para que a las 9p.m. ya estuviera dormida y se levantara a las 7a.m..

Amelie, en ese tiempo tenia bastante trastorno del sueño, se levantaba en las madrugas llena de energía. Comenzamos a cumplir el tratamiento médico y Amelie en lugar de dormirse a las 9p.m. ahora se dormía a 1 a.m. o 2 a.m. lo cual nos causaba mucho transochos.

Comenzamos a darle las gotas más temprano pero no veíamos resultados, así que por recomendación de la psicóloga, suspendimos el tratamiento.

TREATMENTS

At the age of 3, the neurologist who was treating her at the time sent her some drops to help her sleep. The idea was to give her 8 drops in her milk or water at 8 p.m. so that by 9 p.m. she would be asleep and up at 7 a.m..

Amelie, at that time she had quite a sleep disorder, she woke up in the early morning full of energy. We started to comply with the medical treatment and Amelie instead of falling asleep at 9 p.m. was now falling asleep at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. which caused us a lot of trouble.

We started giving her the drops earlier but we were not seeing results, so on the psychologist's recommendation, we stopped the treatment.

TERAPIAS

Por la condición de Amelie, ella necesita dos tipos de terapias.

Terapia de Lenguaje: aquí recibe una especie de masajes en su cara, que estimula sus cuerdas vocales, ella odia esos masajes y llora cada que vez que debe recibirlos. También le ponen videos sobre silabas y le enseñan sonidos.

Actualmente terminó sus 30 primeras secciones y estamos a la espera de un nuevo agendamiento.

Because of Amelie's condition, she needs two types of therapy.

Speech therapy: here she receives a kind of massage on her face, which stimulates her vocal cords, she hates these massages and cries every time she has to receive them. They also play videos about syllables and teach her sounds.

Currently she has finished her first 30 sections and we are waiting for a new lease.

Terapia Ocupacional: este tipo de terapias son las favoritas de Amelie, aquí ella juega y experimenta texturas, aprende a desarrollar su capacidad motriz y algunas buenas costumbres.

Occupational therapy: this type of therapy is Amelie's favorite, here she plays and experiences textures, learns to develop her motor skills and some good habits.

Amelie recibe terapias, lunes, miércoles y viernes, esto implica viajar en taxi, ida y vuelta, ya que es difícil andar con ella en bus y además caminar algunos metros para llegar a nuestro destino. Gastamos 9$ semanal, sin los extras cuando nos corresponde consultas médicas y no lo vemos como un gasto, sino como una inversión necesaria.

Amelie receives therapies, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, this involves traveling by cab, round trip, as it is difficult to walk with her by bus and also walk a few meters to reach our destination. We spend 9$ a week, without the extras when we have medical consultations and we do not see it as an expense, but as a necessary investment.

Recomendaciones Médicas:

▪︎Debemos adaptar nuestro hogar para ella (lo hemos venido haciendo hace años).

▪︎Una alimentación adecuada y baja en gluten.

▪︎Estimular su aprendizaje y felicitarla por sus logros.

▪︎We must adapt our home for her (we have been doing this for years).

▪︎Adequate, low-gluten diet.

▪︎Stimulate her learning and congratulate her on her achievements.

Lo más importante es aceptar la condición de nuestros niños y entender, que no es una enfermedad. Con paciencia y amor, se puede lograr mucho, lo importante es disfrutar con ellos, su mundo especial.

The most important thing is to accept our children's condition and understand that it is not a disease. With patience and love, much can be achieved, the important thing is to enjoy with them, their special world.
