Phuket Island in Thailand is the biggest Island of Thailand and sits on the Andaman sea and is well know to have some of the most astonishing beaches in the world, today I am going to take you to Ra Wai Beach which is at the southern end of Phuket island, this beach is really not suitable for swimming not because it's dirty no that is not the case, it's because Ra Wai village is known as the main fishing village in Phuket you will always find dozens of longtail boats and speedboats anchor along this stretch of beach but if you take a walk down to the east or west end of the beach you will find a very clear white sand, turquoise waters to swim in with a very peaceful local atmosphere.
Ra Wai Village has always been known as the Sea Gypsy Fishing Village for centuries and still is today, they still live off fishing, selling shells, pearl diving and chartering there boats. Ra Wai village has the biggest fish seafood market in Phuket, all the main restaurants and locals go there early every morning to buy up the freshly caught fish, lobsters, crabs and sea shells directly from the local fishermen.
Ra Wai village is really quite a charming village and there are more things to do there, then people might think lot's of locals with come here and picnic under them tall shady trees buying freshly barbecued seafood from the vendors while the kids are having a splash around in the ocean. There are also a couple of spectacular beaches on the nearby islands that are just a short boat ride across the waters if you wanted to spend a few hours on a paradise island and I will say Ra Wai beach and village is not a popular destination for tourist but I will say it is one of the best places on Phuket island if you want to experience the authentic local culture.
