Back on the Coventry Canal

Hail to the Hive!

If you are anything like me and get that itchy foot type wanderlust feeling then you'll understand how myself and @millycf1976 felt being stuck in one place for 3 months waiting for our new engine on Badger the Narrowboat to arrive. It was all the worse because having badger meant we had our wanderlust vehicle but we couldn't move.

But now we are all set and it's time to leave Fazeley Junction and set off roaming the canal network once more.

We set off retracing a route we have done previously but with a slightly different agenda. The weather was crisp and fresh butthe sun still had a little strength to warm the skin if it wasn't obscured by cloud. It felt good to be back in the great outdoors again chugging along in Badger, hearing her new thudding heartbeat as she propelled us along the canal.

I had a grin like a cheshire cat as we chugged along under bridges and around vaguely familiar bends in the canal.

Negotiating the canal locks again was fun and @millycf1976 was clearly enjoying the task at hand. The locks are what makes this network so unique and having to do them yourself just adds to the fun of it all.

Being out all the time it's best to plan ahead when it comes to things like water and waste. We tend to fill up everytime there's a water point. For us it just makes sense, if you've used any water and there is a water point then stop up and top up. Simple. Being offgrid and roaming you become more aware of both the waste you create and the water you use. It's something you don't really see or get a feel for living in a normal house or apartment.

We couldn't have chosen a better time to restart our journeys the weather was superb and made the Warwickshire countryside seem utterly glorious.

As it's getting a little chilly in the evenings we decided to warm up around the fire pit and have a few Plum Porters to celebrate being back on the move in our floating home. The feeling is totally different now we are moving, roaming free once more.

I think the smile on @millycf1976's face all cozy by the fire pit, feet up with a plum porter says it all really. You can't see my cheeky grin behind the lense but believe me it's there 😉
