The center of New Zealand is located in the beautiful town of Nelson and is a landmark for not only Nelson but the whole country. Sitting at the top of Botanical Hill, this point makes it a tourist attraction to many and a symbol of pride to the New Zealanders themselves. This is also the place where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Nelson town as well as Tasman Bay.
The way to the center point is a fairly easy path and has clear instructions. It took us about 30 minutes to walk from Botanic Sports Field, where this track begins, to the top of Botanic Hill. The road is a bit steep in some parts but overall quite easy to walk. I don't know if it's intentional, but the road leading to the top of the hill is quite zigzag, that's why we had the chance to see different beautiful scenes along the way, sometimes a rather dense forest with many tall trees, sometimes it's an arc with a clear view of the valley below. All the scenes were amazingly beautiful and also made our walk more interesting.
And the view from the center point is amazing. I remember we spent quite a long time resting there, enjoying the beautiful view of the town that we loved so much and had many fond memories, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the warm sunshine of early spring.
Center point of New Zealand is quite a special place for me because it is associated with my most favorite town in this country, the town of Nelson. I love the peaceful life here, the weather in Nelson is also great with quite a lot of sunshine. This is also the first town I lived in when I arrived in New Zealand, maybe that's why it's so special to me.
