La Isla de Margarita o conocida también como La Perla del Caribe está ubicada al sureste del Mar Caribe, en el oriente del país. Con un clima tropical seco la temperatura media es de 27 °C con mínimas que oscilan entre 22 y 23 °C y máximas que pueden superar los 34°C. Aunque tiene excepciones como el cerro Calopey con un clima montañoso donde la temperatura puede descender drásticamente a los 14 °C.
Margarita Island, also known as the Pearl of the Caribbean, is located southeast of the Caribbean Sea, in the eastern part of the country. With a dry tropical climate, the average temperature is 27 °C with minimum temperatures ranging between 22 and 23 °C and maximum temperatures that can exceed 34°C. Emprendimos nuestro viaje por carretera desde Caracas (capital del país) a la ciudad de Puerto la Cruz, estado Anzoátegui donde se encuentra el terminal de Ferrys que nos llevaría a la isla. El viaje en carro particular de Caracas a Puerto la Cruz es de cuatro horas aproximadamente.
We started our trip by road from Caracas (capital of the country) to the city of Puerto la Cruz, Anzoátegui State, where the ferry terminal that would take us to the island is located. The trip by private car from Caracas to Puerto la Cruz is approximately four hours.
Luego de tres horas de espera zarpamos rumbo a la isla, el viaje en ferry duro casi tres horas, llegamos a Margarita en la noche ya con reserva de hotel.
Al día siguiente empezamos a disfrutar de la isla…
After three hours of waiting we set sail for the island, the ferry ride lasted almost three hours, we arrived in Margarita at night with a hotel reservation.

Planificamos conocer el Museo Marino y el Parque Nacional Laguna de la Restinga en el mismo día ya que ambos se encuentran en la Península de Macanao, a treinta minutos aproximadamente de Porlamar (ciudad donde nos hospedábamos).
We planned to visit the Marine Museum and the Laguna de la Restinga National Park on the same day since both are located on the Macanao Peninsula, approximately thirty minutes from Porlamar (the city where we were staying).

Macanaco es un lugar muy bonito y tranquilo, no tiene la afluencia de turistas como otras zonas de la isla por lo que es ideal para las personas que no les gustan las aglomeraciones o simplemente desean pasar unos días de relax.
Macanaco is a very nice and quiet place, it does not have the influx of tourists as other areas of the island so it is ideal for people who do not like crowds or just want to spend a few days relaxing.
Así lo hicimos…muy tempano desayunamos para empezar nuestra aventura del día.

Y aquí estamos, en el Museo Marino inaugurado en noviembre de 1994, actualmente funciona como una fundación sin fines de lucro. El Museo cuenta con un edificio sede y cerca de 1000 metros cuadrados de exhibiciones.

Empezamos nuestro recorrido y nos encontramos con un esqueleto de ballena sardinera de 14,6 metros de longitud.

**Por último la sala **4 exclusiva de mamíferos con fotografías de delfines y ballenas, siendo otra atracción el hallazgo del Delfín Calderón, en la Playa Macanao.

En todas las salas nos muestran fotografías y utensilios para llevar a cabo la pesca artesanal, así como sobre la fabricación de embarcaciones.

Cuenta con un segundo piso y una sala dedicada al Parque Nacional Laguna de La Restinga y una maqueta de Nueva Cádiz, “La primera ciudad de América”.

Y no podía faltar La Virgen del Valle, patrona de la Isla de Margarita.

En las afueras de las salas de exhibición podemos disfrutar de acuarios con tortugas, estrellas de mar y otros lindos animales marinos.
Outside the exhibition halls we can enjoy aquariums with turtles, starfish and other cute marine animals.
Luego de disfrutar y aprender sobre las especies marinas continuamos nuestro destino hacia El Parque Nacional Laguna de la Restinga, la cual está formada especialmente por manglares, como el mangle rojo, el negro, el blanco y el botoncillo.
After enjoying and learning about the marine species we continue our destination to Laguna de la Restinga National Park, which is formed especially by mangroves, such as the red, black, white and botoncillo mangroves.
Tiene forma de triángulo invertido y un área de 2.600 hectáreas la cual se encuentra separada del mar Caribe por una barra arenosa o restinga de 23 km de largo, unos 50 m de ancho máximo y una altura menor a 2 metros.
It has the shape of an inverted triangle and an area of 2,600 hectares which is separated from the Caribbean Sea by a sandy bar or shoal 23 km long, about 50 m wide at most and a height of less than 2 meters.
Luego de un bello recorrido, muchas fotos y videos llegamos a la playa para disfrutar del resto del día. La Playa La Restinga es la de mayor prolongación de la Isla de Margarita con 27km , ideal para la recolección de ostras y conchas marinas, cuenta con servicio de toldos y restaurantes.
After a beautiful tour, many photos and videos we arrived at the beach to enjoy the rest of the day. La Restinga Beach is the longest extension of Margarita Island with 27km, ideal for collecting oysters and seashells, has awnings and restaurants.
