Not so long ago, I told you about my journey on Mount Sinai to admire the sunrise.
Once the spectacle of the apparition of the sun concluded, I took the opportunity to go see the Saint Catherine's Monastery which is nearby, in the middle of the mountains.
The Orthodox monastery was constructed in the 6th century, between 548 and 565 and is still in action, making it one of the oldest operating Christian abbeys in the world.
Saint Catherine's Monastery also bears the name of the Monastery of the God-Trodden Mount Sinai.
So you will not be surprised to learn that we can see there the burning bush seen by Moses, which we see here.
I know it doesn't burn anymore!
There are also vestiges of life from the past.
Most tourists only come to see the burning bush and leave quickly.
I suggest you take a walk around when the others are gone to really appreciate the place at its true value.
The site is blessed for Christianity, Islam and Judaism for a good reason.
The Ossuary of Saint Catherine's Monastery is a very small, somewhat hidden room that few people visit.
I must say that I have seen quite a few more impressive than this one, but a minute of silence is still required.
