CAPTIVATING Sonya's Garden in TAGAYTAY, PHILIPPINES + Social Media Reminders

SONYA'S GARDEN Bed and Breakfast
Tagaytay, Philippines

Last December 2019, I went to Batangas to attend the wedding of my best friend who I also consider an older sister. After the wedding, my Cebuano friends and I had a little sightseeing, to maximize our stay in Luzon. Sonya's Garden Bed and Breakfast- Tagaytay was near the place we stayed so we went there for a short visit.

So here's me smiling and wishing for a great 2020, as it was December 2019 at that time. What happened in 2020 may be totally the opposite of what I wished for (what we all wished for), but I sure learned a lot of things during the quarantine and the pandemic situation.

Here are the photos from Sonya's Garden. I know: IT IS BREATHTAKING, right? The garden is just so peaceful and quiet and sooooo beautiful! But wait for more photos below (sorry, I just had to get ahead of myself lol.)

THEY HAVE A PROPOSAL GARDEN, TOO! OMG! It is stunning and beautiful and I do not have other adjectives to use for the garden. Here are the photos and see for yourself:

Sonya's Garden is located in Barangay Buck Estate, Alfonso 4100 Cavite City. For more information, you may visit their official Sonya's Garden website here.

Why Social Media Can be Harmful: A Limited List
One of my many reflections during last year's quarantine

One of my reflections during the quarantine was how dangerous social media can be if we do not intentionally use it. So I have made a rather limited list of why it could potentially bring us more harm than good. This was posted on our Seek God First PH FB Page, you may check it out as well.

Why social media can be harmful (limited list):

  1. The more we see "oh-so-happy" photos, the more we compare our lives to others' lives. Most often than not, we end up hating our lives, and the focus of "what we do not have" eats our core. We then become hateful and without gratitude. (Guard our hearts~!)
  2. The highlight "reel" stories we want to have but are not in our lives— fame, money, power, dream destinations, dream boyfriend/girlfriend, ideal husband/wife, ideal romantic relationship, ideal marriage, dream wedding, dream house and car, among others— will slowly drive us to pity our lives and we feel small and unloved and without value. We feel we're not ever enough. We're never enough. It's a vicious cycle. (Guard our hearts~!)
  3. When social media becomes a "god" in our lives. We crave for attention—all the likes, the loves, the comments, the admiration, the attention of people (which mostly are people we do not really have a close relationship with). We seek love from social media to fill a hole in our hearts. The unexplainable "emptiness" in our hearts. (Guard our hearts~!)

Bottom line: We use social media mainly because of matters in our own hearts. It's like a "drug" that sustains us in this fast-paced full of instant-fixes world.
The Bible says: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
God is reminding you now that we ought to guard our hearts. We ought to examine our motives.
The Bible says: “You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing." (Psalm 145:16)
God is reminding you now that only Him can satisfy your heart's desires. Only God can satisfy the" emptiness" in our hearts. Turn to God and let Him satisfy you to your core.
