Visiting The Shrine Of The Late Archbishop Teofilo Camomot Of Carcar City, Cebu

Good Day Hive friends, hope everyone is doing well and safe. For today's content, I will be sharing my experience together with my wife during our visit to Archbishop Teofilo Camomot Shrine that lies in the City of Carcar, Cebu specifically located in the Barangay of Valladolid. The shrine itself was named after the late Archbishop Teofilo Camomot. Let me share the Biography of the late Archbishop.

In 1943, he was appointed parish priest of Sta. Teresa Parish in Talisay, Cebu. He lived a simple and austere life. Before celebrating mass he visited all the sick parishioners while attending to their needs. On March 26, 1955, he was named Titular bishop of Clisma and auxiliary bishop of Jaro, Iloilo.

Bishop Teofilo B. Camomot was born in Cogon, Carcar, Cebu on March 3, 1914 to Luis and Angela Bastida. He was the third child of eight children and was baptized on March 4, 1914 and confirmed on August 22, 1915. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his seminary formation at the Seminario de San Carlos in Cebu City. source

The shrine is now maintained by the nun of the Daughter of St. Teresa that convent in the same compound of the shrine. Many devotees sought prayers to the late Archbishop asking for the healing of their illnesses, and to name a few devotees who are healed got their names carved in the trees that are planted within the vicinity together with their testimonies, which will support the appeal of the Catholic church for the beatification of the late Archbishop.

As we go towards the shrine, at the top of the main door was a portrait of the late Archbishop with the inscribed text "Domus Teofilo" Domus means home.

With its restriction taking photos inside the shrine is not allowed, we were told that the place is a home for prayers and not for taking pictures. The reason why I didn't have any photos inside the shrine. The tomb of the late Archbishop is also placed in the altars shrine with a cushion in every corner inside for devotees who extend their prayers.

At the back of the shrine is the newly built church with great architecture and huge size. At the same time, my wife asked me to have it photographed with her on it.

Within the doorstep of the church is the huge cross, which is the first thing every devotee would notice. With the wide interior in it.
