Hello itinerants all over the world and hive community! For sure that we're all busy during this Holiday season and I've been slacking with my travel posts due to some commitments outside the internet. As you all know that I'm currently here in our hometown, Surigao City. This Holiday season, I am going to promote our hometown.

My hometown is named to be the City of Island Adventures and I am very proud to feature it on my blog.

As what you already knew, for this episode I am bringing you in one of the most visited tourist attractions in our humble hometown, Surigao City. Unlike famous commercialized beaches with beachfront cottages, pure and fine white sands, array of hammocks, tents, a crowd of people, parties at night and crystal-clear water. Well, Mabua Pebble Beach is making it's way on attracting people with its own unique features such as the cotton candies-like Pebble stones , seasonal huge waves, nipa cottages and lots of coconut trees where you can also set your hammocks up.

Surigao City is located in Southern part of the Philippines and is in the Caraga (Region XIII). It is known to be the gateway of Mindanao for the reason that locals and tourists from the central and northern part of the country can enter Mindanao by land, water and air through Surigao City.

According to the Surigao City local government, the city was originally named by the Spaniards but during the arrival of early Christian missionaries in the province, it was better known to “Caraga,” from the name of the people living here- the “Caragas” which means warlike, brave and ferocious.

Mabua Pebble Beach is just one of the few wonderful and must visited places in this small town of Surigao. I was born and raised in Mindanao but honestly I haven't been to a lot of breath taking sceneries in the island. When this pandemic ends, I would surely visit them one at a time and hopefully can share my experiences with everyone who reads my blog.

It's a great place to stay for beach bums it's just a boat away from Siargao Island. There are so many beaches that you can try around the Province. It's very popular for locals and tourist on weekends. There are so many people staying all day and night which is a good chance to meet new friends.

There are also locals that offers Islet tours where you can visit some mini island in the area. Fishing is what they make for a living. Rest assured that locals are very friendly, you can even make friends with them.

There's also a spot where you can sight the whole beach and ocean view and do cliff jumping. Don't forget to bring your alcohol and sunglasses to complete your perfect staycation up there. If you are planning to stay for a couple of days you can also hike and climb a mountain just minutes away from the beach. And when the day ends, this is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. It will take your breath away literally.

I am just fortunate that I have ever experienced living in the urban and being brought up in the province. Our family always goes to the beach every weekend and it's such a significant place for me since it's where my mom and I normally visit whenever we feel like sleeping by the beach since we do own some cottages in the area.

HOW TO GET THERE?

If you're coming from Manila, you can just book a flight going to Surigao City but if you're from Cebu, you can either book a flight or travel by ship. There are two famous shipping lines coming back and fourth from/to Cebu which the most popular one is the Cokaliong shipping lines. The one way ticket costs 825.00 pesos(17.21 US Dollars) for the economy accommodation and 1025 pesos(21.38 US Dollars) for the tourist accommodation. If you want a more comfortable trip you can take the cabin type accommodation. The travel period takes 8-10 hours by water.

Upon arriving, you can go to Mabua Pebble Beach by tricycle. It takes 15-20 minutes to get there from the city. You can just hire an entire tricycle to go there and your trip back to the city and it costs 120 pesos(2.50 US Dollars) one way trip. If you are a frugal traveler like and want to save up some money you can just go to Pantalan 2 (just walking distant from the seaport) and look for the mabua liners. But it may take a bit your time because you still have to wait for the ride to be fully occupied and you only have to pay 20.00 pesos (0.42 US Dollars).

That's basically it,

If it happens that you have visited the place already, please care to share your experiences in the comment section below. Everyone's glad to hear the stories of yours! Just always remember that learning is a lifetime process. You can learn from your experiences, trips and from other people. The world is so vast. Explore and Learn! Traveling isn't is as expensive as you think! There's a so called travelling on a frugal way with a purpose! Stay tuned then!

DEUCES!
