As you know, I live and work in Indonesia. Indonesia is a vast Country, had thousands of small islands and a few large islands. Different from some large Countries such as China and India where the population tends to be homogeny of one ethnic, Indonesia has many ethnic and cultures with a wide variety of regional languages in every place.
Besides being known as the largest archipelago country in the world. Indonesia is also known as a Country of religion and believes in the teachings of religion. Indonesia has six recognized religions to the present, namely Islam, Catholicism, Protestantism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. But before the influence of religion came, our ancestors in Indonesia already has a flow of trust against the ancestors and is something mystical and occult.
Habits of the people of Indonesia are so confident in the things unseen, mystical, and considered sacral often associated with a place. I have my own experience of it in 2017 when I was still working in Broiler Breeding Farm in the Village of Kuta Jurung, District STM Hulu, Deli Serdang.
About 15 minutes from where I worked at the time, there is a new attraction that is popular when it is Linting Lake. Linting Lake is 50 km from Medan city center, only within 1 hour 45 minutes by car, but the way a lot of cavities and need for caution. Location Linting Lake is not too neat because still managed self-help by the community yet there is a touch of local government.
Linting lake has watercolors a very unique and tend to change, and the temperature of the water is warm but not the smell of sulfur. Possible lake water tends to warm due to volcanic activity or from the heat of the earth.
I visited this lake on a working day and it turns out that many local tourists in Linting lake also enjoy the atmosphere and take pictures around the lake. Visitors here not there that do the activity swimming in the lake because of the depth of the lake is still a mystery and when I came there was still not even 1 month in the case of a boy who drowned while swimming there.
At that time, I visited this lake together with my colleagues who also is a resident of a local village, we call it the name Tarigan. According to him, when he was a small lake is visited is limited by the village people because it is considered haunted and scary.
Tarigan told him about the myth that is trusted by people in the villages around Linting Lake, namely there was a prosperous village named Tinggi Raja, there Lived an old woman who was accompanied by three cats. Grandma is no-cook and every day the food at the airport by his granddaughters. In A day of food delivered to grandma this turned out to be living bone is eaten by three cats. The Grandmother thought his grandson consuming provision is to give the curse to him but because that takes up a provision that is three cats it then they get the curse. A cat ran off to Sibunga Village interest and became a lake which is now called Linting lake. Cat both ran towards the mount sibayak and be sidebuk debuk (hot springs, which is under the foot of mount sibayak) and the third into the flow of the river sibiru-biru.
Of course, we are living in a time of progress and the era of the current information will be skeptical and cynical about that story, but it is a myth that adjusts with the culture and local customs.
Because it is considered as a lake sacral and damned, the visitors on Linting Lake are expected to always say politely, behave well, and not do things that violate the norms. Because a lot of people believe that if we swore or said that is not polite around Linting Lake then it will be taxable disorders of the unseen.
Linting is the word in the language of the Karo, which has the meaning of the Land of the White, it refers to the land around the lake that has a white color. In addition to the many mystical stories here, the potential of tourism can still be developed and optimized, because the distance is not too far from the capital and the natural atmosphere that is natural and beautiful.
