Hasta entonces, solo me había elevado en altura a través de un ascensor y avión que cuentan con unos medios de protección física y psicológica más formales y confortables.
When my husband and I decided to travel from Spain to South Africa to spend the Christmas vacations with his family, it never crossed my mind that I was going to see Cape Town, its capital city, hanging from harnesses that attached my thin body to a tandem paraglider. Until then, I had only been lifted to a higher altitude by an elevator and airplane with more formal and comfortable means of physical and psychological protection.
Después de todo, si me había atrevido a viajar sola desde Venezuela a Irlanda con el pasaje y algunos euros para alimentación y alojamiento, sin conocer la cultura ni hablar las lenguas oficiales de esta hermosa población irlandesa, no iba a sentir miedo como para saltar desde lo alto de Table Mountain en un biplaza que iba a ser piloteado por un instructor con experiencia certificada por la Asociación Sudafricana de Hang y Parapente.
After all, if I had dared to travel alone from Venezuela to Ireland with the ticket and a few euros for food and lodging, without knowing the culture or speaking the official languages of this beautiful Irish population, I was not going to be afraid to jump from the top of Table Mountain in a tandem that was going to be piloted by an instructor with experience certified by the South African Hang and Paragliding Association.

Durante los primeros dos minutos de estar suspendida, no dejé de experimentar cierta sensación de temor; me sostenía fuerte a los arneses y miraba poco hacia abajo, mi atención estaba al frente y por mi cabeza pasaba algún pensamiento de arrepentimiento, jajajajajajaja... Cuando empezó el instructor a conversarme sobre la vista hermosa del paisaje, mi tensión bajó y se elevó mi confianza; es entonces cuando empecé a disfrutar este maravilloso vuelo.
During the first two minutes of being suspended, I did not stop experiencing a certain feeling of fear; I held tightly to the harnesses and looked down little, my attention was in front of me and some regretful thoughts were going through my head, hahahahahahahahahahaha.... When the instructor started to talk to me about the beautiful view of the landscape, my tension went down and my confidence went up; that's when I started to enjoy this wonderful flight.
