Klang is quite a distance from the city Center of Kuala Lumpur. It became populated because of Selangors primary trading port - Port Klang. It is about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur city center, and it might take you up to 3 hours, depending on the KTM railway traffic operator of the day, it might take up to 4 hours just to get there. I would suggest that you use Grab(Southeast Asia's Uber).
Upon arriving the entrance of the temple, one would wonder why Such a grand temple was constructed in such a place?
Port Klang actually has very long history, and it is its local residence there that still keeps its history intact, because the federal government has long erased it from its textbooks. The word Klang derived from the combination of words Mon(burmese khmer word - Klong. Later on it is locallized and it was called to resemble the word fatory Kilang, so it became Kelang.
The primary residence in this area is of chinese decent due to Admiral Cheng Hoe's historical journey that marked the first people to start globalizing the continent and also also known throughout southeast asia as the person who spread the muslim religion in the region. but Malaysian historians, teachers, and politicians as a whole seem to be undergoing a serious simultaneous outbreak of amnesia, Alzheimer's and dementia.
Another thing to take note of in Klang is food. With its predominantly Hokkian residence, it hold one of Malaysia's treasures Klang Bak Kut Teh (pork rib tea) the only problem is there are over 300 bak kut teh shops registered just in Klang alone. There are options of food in the area is limitless and one should just reside in Klang for a couple of days just for its food. Expectations of its taste buds is preserved even though its only an hour away from the city center.
Once you're done wiht all that food and or if you're not into pork ribs. You can hop on a boat and make your way to Pulau Ketam - Crab Island! but before heading there and killing all those animals for your own personal satisfaction. it would be wise to ask for forgiveness at the Kuan Yin Temple.
Its funny as i was loading the pictures to this place. Mr. Goh Chok Siang called me and ask if I had any Kang Tau, and when he herd that I was blogging, he slammed the phone down. For those who doesn't know, he was once the condom king of southeast asia. This just shows, nothing is permanent, be humble and wise when you hold power.
