Greetings Travellers
Last week I took a trip down to Yorkshire in England with my family. We stayed in a picturesque little village called Stillington which is about 10 miles outside the city of York.
We stayed in a lovely little cottage called May cottage .
Here is a little tour of the cottage ...
Whoever decorated the cottage has good taste in art ,here are some of the pictures that decorate the cottage walls...
May cottage is one of many beautiful holiday cottages in this village.
The village has 2 pubs...
The Bay Tree Pub has a lovely beer garden at the back which is home to 3 rabbits...
Across the street from The Bay Tree pub there is an Indian restaurant...
At the bottom of the street there is a fish and chip shop...
I tried a Jumbo sausage and chips..
My dad went for the classic Haddock and chips
There is also a post office...
Across the street from the post office there is an old red telephone box that has been turned into a book exchange...
The village also has a Parish Church with some very old headstones in the churchyard...
The clock on the church chimes every hour...
I manged to get some footage of it chiming at 10 o'clock in the morning...
The village is surrounded by fields and trees...I got these shots while walking to a cafe at a old mill house...
The old mill house is a café but also a venue for musical gigs and theatrical performances.
In the café area there is an old piano that has been turned into a bird feeder...
I manged to snap some shots of the birds while I sat across from the piano...a couple of robins were the first to appear...
When the robins left a blackbird took their place...
I managed to get some footage of the blackbird...
The gardens of the old mill are beautifully decorated with many brightly coloured flowers...
I got lucky with this snap and managed to catch a hoverfly in the bottom right hand corner.
I especially like this bird cage full of bluebells hanging from a tree...
You gotta love this...old boots turned into a plant pot, what a fantastic idea!
The mill house also has a pond area...
On the way back to the cottage from the millhouse I found an antiques warehouse and decided to take a look around.
The antiques shop offered some unique photo opportunities...
Well folks that's pretty much it for things to see and do in the village of Stillington.
Stay tuned for more North Yorkshire adventures coming this week.
We will be taking a trip to the Ryedale vineyard for some wine tasting then onto the city of York then to North Yorkshire Railway in Pickering and lastly to the seaside town of Whitby.
