This is the first in a series of short poems that I'm writing reflecting on different mental states. Today's poem focuses on the awesome power of love. Poetry down the ages has expressed the all consuming feelings of falling in love.
From William Shakespeare's famous Sonnet 18:
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And too often is his gold complexion dimm’d:
