On a saturday in may 2021 we were on a hiking trip through the Black Forest. Our goal was the Lost Place "Sanatorium Charlottenhöhe". This Volksheilstätte, sanctuary for the people opend in 1907 for treating the lung disease tuberculosis.
As you can see in the pictures, this place is surrounded by the woods and since this area is an known air health resort the perfect location to recover from the smoke and smog of the cities. It was a really successful sanatorium til it's closure in 1973. After the 2. World War the number of tuberculosis cases decreased because auf the beginning vaccination of children in 1921.
Until 1994 Charlottenhöhe as used as an Vocational Training Center and after that sold and auctioned many times. But even changing owners didn't change the fact that it slowly decays.
As you can see, many things are destroyed or vandalized. At some point there has had to been an fire and maybe sometimes a living place for somebody. It sure is an mystical place! There is so many stuff that was left behind.
And in june 2021 Charlottenhöhe was bought for 1.301 Mio EUR in a foreclosure.
Except for one word in the middle of the first line and the author that I can't decipher, this text translates to
