—Nunca lo he intentado —respondió.

-Describe me your dreams.
-I've told you before, doctor, they are strange dreams.

The doctor lowered his glasses and looked at him calmly.

-Talking is fundamental in therapy, it is very likely that we will deal with an issue on more than one occasion. It's part of the process that will help you heal.
-Well, if you insist... I often dream that I live in a world of bubbles.
-What do these bubbles look like?
-They are small spheres, like soap bubbles, but inside each one there is a kind of world... or a part of our world, but all in bubbles.
-What is the bubble you live in like?

The patient remained thoughtful, looking at the ceiling, evoking feelings as a result of the question.

-Sad," he answered after a few moments.
-I beg your pardon?

The patient looked at him in confusion.

-I beg your pardon?
-You just told me that your bubble is sad, correct?
-Yes... sad... that's right.
-Why is it sad?
-Because there's only me and no one else. Everyone else lives in other bubbles.
-But you're the only one who lives alone in his bubble?
-Exactly, everyone else has company, but not me.
The doctor took notes of the conversation.
-Is it not possible for you, in your dream, to get out of your bubble and visit the neighboring bubbles?
-I have never tried," he replied.
-Well, the fact is, in real life, you don't live in a bubble dream, you are not alone and you can interact with others without any problem. You are not limited like in your dreams. Do you understand that?

The patient looked at him stunned. The doctor's words seemed like something he should reject, although he made a great effort not to externalize his feelings.

-I'll hook you back up to the machine, and you'll have a chance to go back to your bubble world," said the doctor, preparing the wires. What I want you to do is to try to get out of your bubble and into some neighboring bubble. I'll give you ten minutes of dreaming... Okay?

The patient nodded shyly, but he knew this was his chance to fix the problem left in the dream world the last time he was there. A smile spread across his face, and he settled into his chair for the session.
