As the construction continues, ceremonies are being held on the land.

Today three ceremonies are folded into one continuous event.

The first ceremony is Tumpek Landep which the locals often describe as the ceremony of sharp objects made of metal. It's commonly referred to as the ceremony of the vehicles. That day you can see people on the streets of Bali cleaning their vehicles (motorcycles, cars, trucks...) before the event takes place. Every house is responsible for organizing their own Tumpek Landep.

The second ceremony is the ceremony of the land, the people leaving on this land and the temple of this land. It is called Odalan.

Both ceremonies happen twice a year.

On this land it was determined that Odalan and Tempek Landep would happen on the same day. Twice a year.

Our third ceremony is Ngingsirin Betara.

Balinese temples usually have rectangular plans. Due to the pentarchitectural mantra of this project we have designed a temple with a pentagonal plan which was approved by the local religious authorities.

Building a temple is a great responsibility. We are grateful to be trusted with this task.

In order to fabricate this new temple, the spirit of the existing temple needs to be moved to a temporary holding place. Here a temporary temple in metal is being installed in a quiet location on the land.

After a procession from the existing temple, the temporary temple has received the spirit and is now hosting it until it is moved back to the new pentagonal temple which will be constructed in the next few weeks at the location of the old temple.

The Gardien of the temple, a stone that sits next to the temple, is being moved to the temporary temple.

The spiritual transfer is now complete and the old temple can now be destroyed before the new temple is built.

The ceremony ends by the breaking of the upper part of the temple. The hammer used to break it is consecrated before it touches the temple.
