¡Hola a todos mis amigos intergalácticos! Quiero mostrarles un dibujo que hice y que muy pocos de los que conozco supieron apreciar (de hecho, sólo lo hizo mi hermano que vio la película conmigo), se trata de un Skeksis, más específicamente SkekSil el chambelán.

Hello to all my intergalactic friends! I want to show you a drawing that I did and that very few of those I know appreciated (in fact, it was only done by my brother who saw the film with me), it is a Skeksis, more specifically SkekSil the chamberlain.

Mi hermano mayor es un fanático de las películas sobre temas fuera de lo común. Cuando me comentó sobre El Crystal Oscuro, no dudé en darle una oportunidad. Vi la película del 82 y quedé encantada. El relato, que transcurre en otro planeta, en donde la energía vital del mismo, la brinda el cristal de la verdad. Con la llegada de los Skeksis (Unos seres de otro planeta), el cristal se corrompe y se vuelve el cristal oscuro. Todo lo que pasa luego, es fascinante.

Cuando me enteré de que Netflix había sacado una serie grité de la emoción y más, al ver lo maravilloso que resultó. No podría haber sido más grandioso. Lo que más me parece llamativo, tanto en la película como en la serie, es el uso de marionetas para darle vida a los personajes. Y están tan bien estructurados, que la trama te engancha de principio a fin. Soy por tanto, fanática de esta serie.

Volviendo a mi dibujo, quería ilustrar a uno de los skeksis, los malos de esta historia. SkekSil, el chambelán, es un ser manipulador y cizañero, que como el resto de sus compañeros skeksis, ostenta por el poder. Esta fue la imagen de referencia:

My older brother is a fan of movies on unusual subjects. When he told me about The Dark Crystal, I didn't hesitate to give him a try. I saw the '82 movie and I was delighted. The story, which takes place on another planet, where its vital energy is provided by the crystal of truth. With the arrival of the Skeksis (beings from another planet), the crystal is corrupted and becomes the dark crystal. Everything that happens next is fascinating.

When I found out that Netflix had released a series I screamed with excitement and more, seeing how wonderful it turned out. It couldn't have been more grand. What strikes me the most, both in the film and in the series, is the use of puppets to bring the characters to life. And they are so well structured, that the plot hooks you from start to finish. I am therefore a fan of this series.

Going back to my drawing, I wanted to illustrate one of the skeksis, the bad guys in this story. SkekSil, the chamberlain, is a manipulative and rude being, who like the rest of his fellow Skeksis, holds power. This was the reference image:

Lo primero que hice, fue realizar unas líneas guías para poder ubicar el dibujo.

The first thing I did was make some guide lines to be able to locate the drawing.

Luego, procedí a hacer el lineart. Dado que la vestimenta de los skeksis está compuesta por varias prendas de ropa y accesorios, decidí simplificarlo. Ya que no soy buena en esas cosas y no me quería frustrar.

Then, I proceeded to do the lineart. Since skeksis attire is made up of various pieces of clothing and accessories, I decided to keep it simple. Since I'm not good at those things and I didn't want to get frustrated.

Coloreé todo el dibujo ya para que no se viera tan simple, le coloqué algunos filtros de texturas en la parte de las ropas. Agregué luces y sombras para definir a nuestro skekSil.

I colored the whole drawing so that it didn't look so simple, I put some texture filters on the clothes part. I added highlights and shadows to define our skekSil.

Agregué un fondo bastante oscuro. Pues el castillo de los skeksis, que es donde mora el cristal, tiene un aspecto siniestro.

I added a pretty dark background. For the castle of the skeksis, which is where the crystal dwells, has a sinister aspect.

Para el cristal, apliqué unos tonos claros y los opaqué un poco. Jugué con los filtros hasta obtener un resultado que me convenciera.

For the glass, I applied some light shades and dull them a bit. I played with the filters until I got a result that convinced me.

Finalmente, agregué unas especies de rayos y luces alrededor del cristal, para conseguir un efecto dramático. Simplemente realicé un par de líneas con el pincel.

Finally, I added some kinds of rays and lights around the glass, to get a dramatic effect. I just made a couple of lines with the brush.

Me gustó mucho realizar este fanart. Espero poder realizarlo de nuevo con más tiempo para poder dedicarme mucho más en los detalles de la vestimenta.
