¡Hola a todos! El día de hoy les vengo a mostrar uno de mis dibujos, se trata de un villano de mis videojuegos favoritos: The Legend of Zelda, más específicamente, aparece en Ocarine of Time.
Hello everybody! Today I come to show you one of my drawings, it is about a villain from my favorite video games: The Legend of Zelda, more specifically, it appears in Ocarine of Time.
Por lo general, no soy amante de los temas terroríficos, pero la parte en donde aparece Dead hand, es mi favorita, sobre todo ese peculiar subjefe. Este ser maligno es una especie de Ghoul, tiene unos brazos aterradores que salen de la tierra y capturan a su presa mientras que Dead Hand se acerca para comérsela a grandes mordiscos.
In general, I am not a lover of terrifying themes, but the part where Dead hand appears is my favorite, especially that peculiar underboss. This evil being is a kind of Ghoul, it has terrifying arms that come out of the ground and capture its prey while Dead Hand approaches to eat it with great bites.
Lo primero que hice fue conseguir unas imágenes de referencia del personaje y analizarlo: la apariencia de Dead Hand en el videojuego a pesar de que no se ve tan bien definida, se sobreentiende a la perfección. Se trata de una criatura pálida (ya que habita debajo de un pozo), bañada en la sangre de sus victimas, lo cual es en extremo aterrador.
The first thing I did was get some reference images of the character and analyze it: the appearance of Dead Hand in the video game although it does not look so well defined, it is perfectly understood. It is a pale creature (since it lives under a well), bathed in the blood of its victims, which is extremely terrifying.
Para mi dibujo opté por realizarlo desde la visión de la primera persona (en éste caso el video jugador). Recuerdo que cuando Dead Hand abría por demás su mandíbula quebrada, me daba mucho miedo, pues me imagino que debe de lanzar un grito horrible cuando va a realizar su ataque.
For my drawing I opted to do it from the first person view (in this case the video player). I remember that when Dead Hand opened his broken jaw too much, I was very scared, because I imagine that he must give a horrible scream when he is going to make his attack.
Pinté todo con colores base, utilizado filtros en la zona del suelo para dar la sensación de tierra. Como lo más importante era la sangre (o al menos era lo que quería practicar), utilicé un color rojo fuerte que luego fui saturando en ciertas zonas para dar el efecto de sangre coagulada. Luego cree una capa circular en negro, la cual opaqué para generar sombra alrededor.
I painted everything with base colors, using filters in the ground area to give the feeling of earth. Since the most important thing was the blood (or at least it was what I wanted to practice), I used a strong red color that was then saturated in certain areas to give the effect of coagulated blood. Then I created a circular layer in black, which I opaque to cast shadow around it.
Finalmente hice la mención de una de las herramientas del juego llamada "The eye of Truth", que obtienes en ese calabozo y que te permite ver objetos ocultos. De esa manera, parecerá que somos el jugador encontrándose con el aterrador Dead Hand.
Finally I made the mention of one of the tools of the game called "The eye of Truth", that you get in that dungeon and that allows you to see hidden objects. In that way, it will appear that we are the player meeting the terrifying Dead Hand.
Me gusta salir de mi zona de confort y dibujar cosas a las que no estoy acostumbrada, como mi estilo de dibujo es un tanto infantil y tierno, lograr dibujar cosas como estas me animan a seguir explorando nuevas técnicas. Sigo sin ser amante de los temas sangrientos, simplemente no es lo mío, pero me gusta como logro plasmar el efecto de sangre en ocasiones. Muchas gracias por haber visitado mi publicación. I like to get out of my comfort zone and draw things that I am not used to, as my drawing style is somewhat childish and tender, drawing things like these encourage me to continue exploring new techniques. I'm still not a lover of gory themes, it's just not my thing, but I like how I manage to capture the effect of blood at times. Thank you very much for visiting my publication.
