Jonny es un personaje muy extraño de la serie animada Ed, Edd y Eddy (creada por Danny Antonucci y emitida por Cartoon Network de 1999 a 2009), cuyo mejor amigo es imaginario y se llama Tablón; un pedazo de madera con el dibujo a mano alzada con crayones de una cara. A menudo ambos sostenían conversaciones muy fluidas, aunque solo sucediera en la mente de Jonny (¿o tal vez no?). No obstante, a los demás personajes parecía no importarle, incluso, Tablón parecía uno más. Recuerdo que Jonny tenia una gran cabeza, vestía jeans, franela blanca y siempre llevaba a Tablón en una mano. Es uno de mis favoritos en la serie.

Jonny is a very strange character from the animated series Ed, Edd and Eddy (created by Danny Antonucci and broadcast on Cartoon Network from 1999 to 2009), whose best friend is imaginary and his name is Plank; a piece of wood with a freehand crayon drawing of a face. They often had very fluid conversations, even if it was only happening in Jonny's mind (or maybe not?). However, the other characters did not seem to care, even Plank seemed like one more. I remember Jonny had a big head, he wore jeans, white flannel and he always carried Plank in one hand. It is one of my favorites in the series.
I dared to make my animated version of Jonny and Plank.
En mi versión, le doy un toque más oscuro. Tablón tiene vida propia, es un espíritu maligno encerrado en un objeto hace mucho tiempo, pero necesita un cuerpo nuevo y lo halla en Jonny. Es así como toma posesión de su cuerpo y usa su cabeza como una máscara. Esto se me ocurrió debido a que en la serie Tablón parece tener vida propia, ya que en ocasiones aparece misteriosamente en lugares sin la compañía de Jonny. Además, siempre pensé que Jonny estaba loco, él hablaba con Tablón, y Tablón a su vez, se comunicaba a través de él. Con el típico “Tablón dice esto…” y “Tablón dice lo otro…” sabíamos que Jonny iba actuar de interlocutor.
Para este dibujo usé Blender 2D, un programa que aún estoy aprendiendo a usar, pero que me parece muy potente y con muchas herramientas para crear animaciones. En Blender 2D se dibuja por capas: primero cree una capa de líneas, luego una de colores y sombras debajo. Le agregue efectos de luz y sombra al final. A continuación imágenes del proceso.
In my version, I give it a darker touch. Plank has a life of its own, it is an evil spirit locked in an object for a long time, but it needs a new body and it finds it in Jonny. This is how he takes possession of his body and uses his head as a mask. This occurred to me because in the series Plank seems to have a life of its own, as he sometimes mysteriously appears in places without Jonny's company. Also, I always thought that Jonny was crazy, he talked to Plank, and Plank in turn, communicated through him. With the typical "Plank says this ..." and "Plank says the other ..." we knew that Jonny was going to act as an interlocutor.
For this drawing I used Blender 2D, a program that I am still learning to use, but which I find very powerful and with many tools to create animations. In Blender 2D it is drawn by layers: first I create a layer of lines, then a layer of colors and shadows underneath. Add light and shadow effects at the end. Below are images of the process.
