Mathematically, a pattern can be discerned and transcribed, to be examined and pondered. In this sense, mathematics is also an art.
Data visualisation is something I only grasp with a layman's understanding. But, true to the definition of art given above, the preponderance of beautiful objects and patterns created by data sets and their visualisation can tell us much more than the raw numbers themselves.

The above image is a data set pertaining to the current ebb and flow of opinion on vaccines against COVID-19. At a glance the image tells us that currently the pro-vaxxers are, bizarrely, not completely dominating the field.
This simple image, then, raises questions and provides insights into the human animal at this point in time.
It looks like a virus itself, doesn't it? Tendrils of menace creeping across the world, forming sickening connections, blackening everything it touches.
