Hello, people of the internet! I hope you are ok. Today I will continue with @kurunokensh's challege on Anime. Now, it corresponds to my favorite Anime movie:

To be perfectly honest, I don't think there is anyone who doesn't love Totoro. He's a little Yokai animal created by Miyasaki, protector of forests and nature, let's say he's a compilation of little animals like rabbit, cat and raccoon. He's extremely cute!
Siendo totalmente honesta, no creo que haya alguna persona que no ame a Totoro. Es un animalito Yokai, creado por Miyasaki, protector de los bosques y la naturaleza. Digamos que es una compilación de animalitos como conejo, gato y mapache. ¡Es en extremo tierno!
The story is very nice, it's based on a family of 4 members: the father, the mother and her two little daughters. The mother (Yasuko) is sick and in the hospital and the father takes care of work and his little girls. They three move to a new house and it's there where the adventure begins.
La historia es muy bonita, se basa en una familia de 4 integrantes: el padre, la madre y sus dos pequeñas hijas. La madre (Yasuko) está enferma e internada en el hospital y el padre se encarga de trabajar y de sus pequeñas. Estos tres se mudan a una nueva casa y es allí donde inicia la aventura.
Mei (the youngest girl) soon, while her sister is at school, starts to explore the garden of her new house and meets a Chibi Totoro (the white Totoro), she starts to chase him and loses sight of him when he goes under the house, however he appears later, following a Chuu Totoro (a blue one) carrying a bag of acorns. The girl chases them until she gets into a tunnel of plants and arrives at a clearing where our great friend Totoro rests.
Mei (la niña más pequeña) pronto, mientras su hermana está en la escuela, se pone a explorar el jardín de su nueva casa y se encuentra con un Chibi Totoro (el Totoro blanco), se pone a perseguirlo y lo pierde de vista cuando éste se mete debajo de la casa, sin embargo aparece después, siguiendo a un Chuu Totoro (uno azul) que lleva un saquito de bellotas. La niña los persigue hasta meterse en un túnel de plantas y llega hasta un claro en donde descansa nuestro gran amigo Totoro.
Although Mei tells her sister Satsuki about the adventure, Satsuki thinks it's just part of her little sister's imagination. Here in Japanese there is a play on words, as Mei assures her sister to have seen a Totoro, and Satsuki corrects her by telling her that she is mispronouncing the word Totoru, which is Japanese for Troll, even so, the little girl still calls it Totoro.
Aunque Mei le cuenta la aventura a su hermana Satsuki, ella piensa que es solo parte de la imaginación de su hermanita. Aquí en japonés hay un juego de palabras, ya que Mei le asegura a su hermana haber visto un Totoro, y Satsuki la corrige diciéndole que está pronunciando mal la palabra Totoru, que es japonés significa Troll, aún así, la pequeña lo sigue llamando Totoro.
The first time Satsuki sees Totoro, is when both girls go to wait for their father at the bus stop. He was working in Tokyo, and then one of the most adorable scenes happens. Underneath her umbrella, Satsuki sees Totoro's huge hairy paws, who is "covering" himself from the rain with a leaf over his head. Seeing clearly that this doesn't work and that Totoro is still getting wet, Satsuki, still surprised by the appearance of the animal, lends him the extra umbrella she had. Totoro observes it with curiosity, after learning how to hold it and after a while, the Nekobus appears and Totoro gives them a little package with nuts and leaves in the Nekobus.
La primera vez que Satsuki ve a Totoro es cuando ambas niñas van a esperar a su padre en la parada de autobús, el cual se encontraba trabajando en Tokio, es entonces cuando sucede una de las escenas más adorables. Por debajo de su paraguas, Satsuki ve las patas peludas y enormes de Totoro, el cuál está «cubriéndose» de la lluvia con una hoja sobre su cabeza. Ante la clara visión de que esto no funciona y que Totoro igual está mojándose, Satsuki sorprendida aún por la aparición del animal, le presta el paraguas extra que tenía. Totoro lo observa con curiosidad, luego de aprender a sujetarlo y después de un rato, aparece el Nekobus, y Totoro les obsequia un paquetito con nueces y se marcha en el Nekobus.
When the girls receive a letter from the hospital telling them that their mother has been aggravated, Satsuki runs to call her father at work to let him know, and Mei runs away to try to go to the hospital with her mother, but she gets lost. The whole town starts looking for her and Satsuki meets Totoro and asks him for help, then he calls the Nekobus, and Satsuki gets on it, who takes her to her sister, then takes them to the hospital where they check that her mother's condition isn't serious and later returns them home.
Cuando las niñas reciben una carta del hospital avisando que su madre se agrabó, Satsuki corre a llamar a su padre por teléfono al trabajo para avisarle, y Mei se escapa para intentar ir al hospital con su madre, sin embargo se pierde. Todo el pueblo comienza a buscarla y Satsuki se encuentra con Totoro y le pide ayuda, entonces éste llama al Nekobus y Satsuki se sube a él, quien la lleva hasta su hermana, luego las lleva al hospital donde comprueban que el estado de su madre no es grave y posteriormente las devuelve a casa.
I love this film because it's quite tender and hopeful, as well as a clear reference to Shintoism and its premise of nature conservation. As a nature and gardening lover myself, I loved this film, in fact one of my favorite scenes is when the girls and Totoro dance in the orchard to make the acorns that Totoro - oh (King Totoro) had given to the girls and that they had planted grow.
Amo esta película porque es bastante tierna y esperanzadora, además de la clara referencia al Shintoísmo y su premisa de la conservación de la naturaleza. Como amante de la naturaleza y la jardinería propiamente, amé este Film, de hecho una de mis escenas preferida es cuando las niñas y los Totoro bailan en el huerto para hacer crecer las bellotas que Totoro - oh (el rey Totoro) le había regalado a las niñas y que ellas habían plantado
It's a 100% recommended film and one of Studio Ghibli's best. It's over 30 years old and has aged very well, I've seen it a thousand times and I never get tired of watching it.
Es una película 100% recomendada y una de las mejores de Studio Ghibli. Ya tiene más de 30 años y ha envejecido muy bien, la he visto mil veces y nunca me canso de seguir viéndola.
Another thing that is worth mentioning besides the photography and color palette (excellent and full of high details) is the Soundtrack, a real marvel by the great Joe Hisaishi, who is the composer of almost all the Soundtracks of Studio Ghibli films. One of my favorites and the main theme of the movie is Tonari no Totoro, it's a really lovely song. I leave the song below.
Otra cosa que es digna de mencionar además de la fotografía y paleta de colores (excelsa y llena de altos detalles) es el Soundtrack, una auténtica maravilla a manos del gran Joe Hisaishi, quién es compositor de casi todos los Soundtracks de las películas de Studio Ghibli. Una de mis preferidas y el tema principal de la película es Tonari no Totoro, es una canción realmente adorable. Les dejó la canción debajo con subtitulos al español.
