Hello dear Hivers. Today I bring you this old lady I made as illustration for my new story: " The Tree of Time "

It took me 3 full days to finish it! Much longer than the time I needed to write the story. But I'm really satisfied with the result, what do you think?

Hola queridos amigos de Hive. Hoy les traigo esta viejecita que hice como ilustración para mi nueva historia: " El Árbol del Tiempo "
Me tomó 3 días enteros terminarlo! Mucho más del tiempo que necesité para escribir la historia. Pero quedé realmente satisfecha con el resultado. ¿Ustedes qué opinan?

Although I have a great imagination, to make a realistic drawing I need to look at a model or a photo, so I went through Unsplash looking for the ideal old lady.

I needed a lady who looked 100 years old, very wrinkled, and I wanted her to have her head covered with a pashmina.

A pesar de que tengo una gran imaginación, para realizar un dibujo realista necesito fijarme de un modelo o de una foto, así que me paseé por Unsplash buscando la viejecita ideal.
Necesitaba una señora que aparentara 100 años, bien arrugadita, y quería que tuviera la cabeza cubierta con una pashmina.

I found this granny, with the fitting age

And finally, this image that I would use to draw the hand.

To find the correct position I turned it in mirror and then 90 degrees to the right, and it looked like this:

Para atinarle a la posición correcta la volteé en espejo y luego 90 grados a la derecha, y quedó así:

Step by step drawing process

Proceso de dibujo paso a paso

The first thing was to make a sketch joining the head with the pashmina, the hand and the seed. For that I used the H3 pencil, which paints very pale and is easy to erase.

Lo primero fue hacer un boceto juntando la cabeza con la pasmina, la mano y la semilla. Para eso utilicé el lápiz H3, que pinta muy pálido y es fácil de borrar.

Next was painting my old lady's hair, drawing curved lines with all pencils. I left some blanks because it is gray hair.

Lo siguiente fue pintar el cabello de mi viejecita, trazando líneas curvas con todos los lápices. Dejé algunos espacios en blanco porque es cabello canoso.

The next step was to paint the pashmina design. I decided to trace the lines and add the shades at the same time, since the design looked like a puzzle and I could get confused if I did it separately.

This was the step that took me the longest. 2 full days.

Lo siguiente fue pintar el diseño de la pasmina. Decidí ir trazando las líneas y añadiendo las tonalidades a la vez, ya que el diseño parecía un rompecabezas y podía confundirme si lo hacía por separado.
Este fue el paso que me tomó más tiempo. 2 días enteros.

I decided to leave the bottom right part of the pashmina last, because it had very dark colors and could stain the paper a lot. (I am left-handed and while drawing I am dragging the graphite disastrously.)

I started with my old lady's face by sketching it with the H3 pencil.

Decidí dejar de última la parte inferior derecha de la pashmina, porque tenía colores muy oscuros y podía manchar mucho el papel. (Soy zurda y mientras dibujo voy arrastrando el grafito de manera desastrosa).
Comencé con el rostro de mi viejecita haciendo un boceto con el lápiz H3.

And then I started to add the shades.

Y después comencé a dar las tonalidades.

Wrinkles, wrinkles everywhere!

¡Arrugas, arrugas por todas partes!

My old lady has taken shape! Now let's go with the hand.

Ya agarró forma mi viejecita! Ahora vamos con la mano.

Now my favorite part: The magic seed! When you read my story you will know why I chose to paint it in colors instead of leaving it in grayscale.

Ahora mi parte favorita: La semilla mágica! Cuando lean mi cuento sabrán por qué escogí pintarla a ella de colores en lugar de dejarla en escala de grises.

And then the last thing was to paint the lower right part of the pashmina, and the black shirt. As this was the last thing, it is represented with this gif of the final result.

Y pues lo último fue pintar la parte inferior derecha de la pashmina, y la camisa negra. Como esto fue lo último, queda representado con este gif del resultado final.
