Artists have never portrayed Hestia in human guise. However, the presence of this goddess was felt in a living flame in the center of each house and temple. Her presence was as tangible as fire, giving light and warmth. That is why she has always been highly revered. She received the best sacrifices offered to the gods by mortals.
