World Photography Contest - Rivers Landscapes of the World: Umkhomazi River

This is my first entry in the contest for #worldphotography. You can read more about this week's theme in this article.

Umkomaas is a little town south of Durban, on the east coast of South Africa. We love driving out there to take regular walks on the beach in Umkomaas or by the Umhomazi River.

According to The Umhomazi River rises in some of the highest eastwards-facing slopes, from where it flows south-eastwards towards Umkomaas.

I took this photo, looking inland, towards the river as it comes down to pass Umkomaas before it meets the Indian Ocean.

From there we took a drive down to the beach. Just north of the popular Umkomaas Diving School, the Umhomazi River meets with the ocean.

Just before the river mounts out into the ocean, it crosses under a railway bridge. This railway line is used between Durban and the South Coast.

Standing at this point, I took another shot of the river coming down towards the ocean, looking inland.

Standing at the same spot, but looking east, you can see where the river mounts out into the Indian ocean just passing through under the railway bridge.

Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it.
