Polesworth Canalside Stroll - Wednesday Walk

Hail to the Hive!

5 days and we are still not moving so I guess as it's a wednesday i may as well take a little walk and clear my mind of all that's troubling it.

The town we are in is very pleasant and everyone we've chatted to along the canal here has been very friendly. I can see why so many people walk up and down this stretch of the Coventry Canal as it is very pretty and in this weather it's a splendid experience.

With the canal always being so calm it really does capture reflections remarkably well.

Bridges are something I have to explore so when I encounter one I like to have a look and see whats up there.

In this case some weird old, and now defunct, sort of old pumping station. Who knows what it was used for?? I have zero clue.

A substantial piece of engineering so it must have been important at some time in the distant past.

The views from the other side, on a day like today, are simply excellent. So peaceful and relaxing to be out in the countryside, yet currently so close to our little floating home.

Such a clear day. Has summer finally staked it's claim on this year and demanded to stay I wonder.

IMG-9325.jpg

Magnet fishermen have clearly been here today and left their catch by the wayside.

IMG-9316.jpg

And now a real fisherman, an angler fishing for fish and not discarded metal. We asked if he'd had much luck. "No" he said " But at least it's not far to go home" and he gestured behind him so he lives in one of the houses next to the canal. "So do I" I thought. But mine moves 😁....well when the engine is working it does.

As the sun starts to come down on the long summer days there's a lovely magical feel. After so long in an area close to the equator i'd forgotten what these long days felt like in summer. So many memories of being a child and being out with friends until dark which was about 10pm. Great fun.

We pass some quite eccentric boats. I love this one with all the random decorations and a homage to what must be his favourite drink, Guinness.

IMG-9328.jpg

Love it. A true original.

IMG-9327.jpg

We can smell Indian food as we pass under this bridge.

IMG-9330.jpg

We'd already eaten but mmmmmm curry.

IMG-9329.jpg

@diveratt is off he want curry an it appears there is an Indian restaurant next to this pub.
