Wednesday Walking Along the Black River

For today's adventure, I snuck out of work for a little bit to walk the rocky beach of a local waterway known as the Black River. The Black River originates north of us, but eventually makes its way to the mighty Mississippi...

This is one of the few remaining areas of water that still allow houseboats. Most of these will eventually disappear once the existing owners pass away. No new houseboats will be allowed given the current regulations...yet in the meantime, they are worth taking a photo or two of...

The houseboats weren't the only things to view and photograph on today's walk. Life, as always, finds a way, doesn't it? I found a few more patches of wildflowers along the rocky shore today, reaching for the sun...

I also noticed an old riverboat in the distance...I might have to return here and get a better look at the old ship on a future Wednesday.

All in all, it was a beautiful September Wednesday morning. The temperature was in the lower 60Fs, fall was in the air yet again, and the river was full of fishermen, birds, and life; things I will no doubt miss in a few months.

Not as much green on today's walk as last week, but there was plenty of blue in the sky and in the water. The last time I visited this place there was snow on the ground; it's another "sacred spot" near me that I really should visit more often.
