I Must Go Down To The Sea Again!

Winklespruit Beach Bums

It's bucketing with rain outdoors over the past couple of days which I am enjoying with cooler weather, you will hear me complain when the sun comes out along with humidity that will go sky high! Let's go on my recent trip down to the beach a weekend ago before the weather turned from Spring into Winter overnight once again.

First look down growing on the dunes, Beach bum Arctotheca populifolia is an annual or perennial, creeping, mat-forming herb along our shores from Cape to Mozambique, something on the beach for insects to enjoy.

Time out, Woody took my son for a long walk down to the bridge then got extremely nervous to cross under so they returned after some swimming in the river, enjoying being out in the open. Hubby took himself off on a "Time Out", right place to be to relax doing everything at your own pace!

Diesel Locomotives ran across the bridge, one of the loveliest train lines hugging the shore when it was up and running for passenger trains, I believe a start is being made to re-address the railways.

Read the Proverb in closing today, don't get stuck in the mud or be a stuck in the mud, not sure of that one, basically keep moving in life, enjoy each moment and work never killed anyone!

Well the tree has given us everything of it's best before ending up in this predicament. Further along a crab carefully watched on, one foot closer bud and I'm gone, here you will have too look a little closer.... In other words put your glasses on, these guys a small and fast!

Blacksmith Lapwing along the shoreline must have young close by in a nest, we were bomb dived in an attempt to chase us away, sitting pontificating their next move... Don't worry, we will be gone soon...

Skirting overhead at high speed checking the ground to find something to eat is the Yellow-billed Kite, very handsome on wing with a few in flight on the day.

Woody took a very quick dip in the sea, preferring the river to this crashing noise, yes a little fun on the outing as last time he avoided the waves completely.

Leaving the beach after a couple of hours, we bade farewell to the beach bum flowers, to return soon again for another walk, each time the seascape changes, colour of water, beach itself depending on the season.

'I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky....', rejuvenated, invigorating, mind blowing freedom for awhile. Thanks for being here and hope you enjoyed this Wednesday Walk.
