St. Andrew's Cathedral/Андреевский собор
We will have a short walk along Bolshoy Avenue of Vasilievsky Island in St. Petersburg. After visiting the buildings of the former Sevkabel plant, it was necessary to breathe in the autumn air and change the mood.
I certainly love old red brick and industrial architecture. Here you can feel and see the time. But after such events it is good to walk in the sun and feel the contrast. We went out onto Bolshoy Prospekt and headed towards the Strelka of Vasilievsky Island. Of course, we didn't get that far. Catherine's Lutheran Church was the point from which we turned back to the car.
Нам предстоит небольшая прогулка по Большому проспекту Васильевского острова Санкт-Петербурга. После посещения корпусов бывшего завода Севкабель надо было подышать осенним воздухом и сменить настроение.
Я, конечно, люблю старый красный кирпич и индустриальную архитектуру. Здесь можно почувствовать и увидеть время. Но после таких мероприятий хорошо пройтись по солнышку и почувствовать контраст. Мы вышли на Большой проспект и направились в сторону Стрелки Васильевского острова. Конечно, так далеко мы не прошли. Екатерининская лютеранская церковь была той точкой, от которой мы повернули назад к машине.
We didn't have any special purpose for this walk. We just walked along the avenue and I took some pictures. The weather was sunny, the gold of autumn glittered in the windows, on the roofs and rustled underfoot. We just enjoyed our usual walk.
У нас не было какой-то специальной цели для этой прогулки. Мы просто шли по проспекту и я немного фотографировал. Погода была солнечной, золото осени блестело в окнах, на крышах и шуршало под ногами. Мым просто наслаждались обычной прогулкой.
In my city there are many churches of various denominations. Russia has always been tolerant of the Gentiles. It also happened that services of different religions were held in an Orthodox church at different times. Even on a relatively small avenue along which we are now walking, there are several temples.
В моём городе много храмов самых различных конфессий. Россия всегда терпимо относилась к иноверцам. Бывало и так, что в православном храме в разное время проходили службы разных религий. Даже на сравнительно небольшом проспекте, по которому мы сейчас гуляем, стоит несколько храмов.
I am not an adherent of any official religion, but I respect everyone (if it is not sectarianism). And I like the architecture and decoration of temples. I feel the love of the people who built and decorated all this.
Я не являюсь адептом какой-либо официальной религии, но с уважением отношусь ко всем (если это не сектантство). И мне нравится архитектура и убранство храмов. Я чувствую любовь людей, которые всё это возводили и украшали.
St. Andrew's Cathedral is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the city. I love its shapes and delicate colors. This is a rather complex engineering structure. In sunny weather, it is simply irresistible.
Андреевский собор является одним из красивейших соборов города. Мне нравятся его формы и нежные цвета. Это довольно сложное инженерное сооружение. В солнечную погоду он просто неотразим.
And this courtyard is located right outside the walls of the cathedral and here it has its own ordinary life.
А этот двор находится прямо за стенами собора и здесь идёт своя обычная жизнь.
We continued our walk along the way, looking into the courtyards and examining everything that seemed interesting to us.
Мы продлжали нашу прогулку попутно заглядывая во дворы и рассматривая всё, что казалось нам интересным.
Catherine's Lutheran Church/Екатерининская лютеранская церковь
So we got to the Catherine Lutheran Church. By this time, we were already pretty tired, and we still had a way back.
Так мы и дошли до Екатерининской лютеранской церкви. К этому времени мы уже порядком утомились, а нам ещё предстоял обратный путь.
