Jaba is an evergreen shrub with a height of 2.5-5 m (6-18 ft) and a width of 1.5-3 m (5-10 ft). The leaves are glossy and the flowers are bright red and have 5 petals. The flowers are 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter and bloom in summer and autumn.

As a garden tree, jaggery is used everywhere in the tropics and subtropics. Since Jaba cannot tolerate temperatures below 10 ° Celsius, Jaba plants are kept in greenhouses in temperate regions. There are different hybrid species of Jaba tree, the color of the flowers can be white, yellow, orange, etc.
