When I was not a parent and I used to see other parents dressing up their child on different occasions, I used to feel like eewww and creepy. I used to think don't these parents have anything better to do in their lives than dressing up their child like a God or may be Santa Clause.
But now, when I am a parent myself, I understand what it feels like having a kid and playing all these tricks on him, dressing him up on different occasions and taking pictures. These are fun activites and creates a lot of good memories to cherish. I am personally doing all of it now and enjoying every moment.
So today is Janmashtami, a hindu festival to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. The temples are decorated, there is a swing where they lay the idol of Lord Krishna as a child and people visit the temples to pray to him, make sweets. Some people also fast to offer their prayer to Lord Krishna.
I also got a small idol of Lord Krishna home and dressed him in new clothes.
Boys are dressed up as Lord Krishna and girls as Radha (Lord Krishna's beloved). I got Raag a nice dress, a flute, head band and some jewellery yo go with it.
On this auspicious day, we also got a fancy picture of Lord Krishna and Radha done on our wall.
In the evening, we plan to eat some good food, I am planning to make something sweet like Rava halwa.
I will also take Raag to the temple nearby to show him the decorations and give sway to Lord Krishna.
Happy Janmashtmi to all <3
