The Cost Of Splinterlands Boosters (6/18/2021)

For those of us on this amazing journey known as Splinterlands yous know that allot is going on within the Splinterworld. We have the Land expansion, upcoming year long airdrop and much more. This topic isn't about any of those things as there's already a bunch of awesome content in which covers them. What I would like to bring your attention to is the cost of Boosters within the secondary market known has Hive-Engine. For those who have been living under a rock and have no clue what Splinterlands is.....

What is Splinterlands ?

Splinterlands is a digital card game created by @aggroed and @yabapmatt. Game release has launched and prizes are already up for grabs. You can get started with investing in or playing Splinterlands by clicking here.

DICE

Currently the only Boosters for sale on the official Splinterlands site are the DICE boosters. Dice Boosters cost 3000 DEC to purchase. Splinterlands values DEC at $1 USD per 1000 DEC. There's roughly only 137,000 DICE Boosters remaining and Its very likely they won't last long. If you are interested in saving a little money DICE Boosters can be purchased at HIVE-ENGINE for roughly $2.60. Purchasing from the secondary market does not take away from the available supply that is being sold at Splinterlands.

UNTAMED

The Third edition (UNTAMED) of Splinterland Boosters have recently sold out. The only way to purchase them is at secondary markets or in private sale. Just like the the edition before UNTAMED these boosters orginal cost was $2 USD each when bought directly from Splinterlands.

If you want to purchase an UNTAMED Booster today you will need to head on over to a secondary market like HIVE-Engine and the cost of one is currently about $2.30 USD. So far that isn't a bad mark up for something that is out of print. You will need to hurry because currently there's only 175 UNTAMED Boosters listed at that price. The price per boosters then bumps up to about $2.50 USD.

BETA

The Second edition of Boosters is known as the BETA collection. The BETA collection included reprints of the first Edition and introduced us to a wide array of new cards within the Neutral Splinter. Before Beta there was only one Legendary Summoner (Selenia Sky) and that was within the Dragon Splinter. Five new must have Legendary Summoners were introduced with the BETA collection giving all Splinters their own Legendary Summoner.

BETA Boosters original cost just $2 when purchased directly from the Splinterland Site. These Boosters have long been out of print but that doesn't mean there isn't investors still selling/buying them. You can still purchase these boosters privately or on secondary markets like Hive-Engine. The lowest priced BETA Booster on Hive-Engine is currently worth about $13.32 USD. There's only eleven available at this price. The next batch of 10 BETA Boosters will cost about $15 USD each. After that there's a batch of 50 that are listed for roughly $16.50 USD each.

ALPHA

The edition that started it all. Alpha was the name of the First Edition of Splinterland Monsters and Summoners. If you collected the Alpha cards and managed to hold on to your collection over the past years congrats its very likely you are very happy with the return on your investment. The Alpha Boosters also only cost just $2 USD. Just like the Boosters that came after it they are still available for sale on secondary markets like Hive-Engine.

An Alpha Booster that once cost just $2 USD will currently cost you $41 USD when purchased from Hive-Engine. The bad news: Currently there's just 640 Alpha Boosters listed for sale on Hive-Engine. The good news is there's no price jump. All 640 boosters sell for the same price of 140 HIVE which at todays exchange rate is roughly $41 USD.

ORBS

ORBS, another set of Boosters that have sold out. ORB Boosters when purchased from Splinterlands could only be purchased with DEC. Once sold out the DICE collection was introduced. As we went over already the DICE collection is still actively being sold on the Splinterlands site.

If you want to purchase some ORB Boosters you will need to do so privately or on secondary markets. Hive-Engine has ORBS listed at the low price of $14.61 USD. The quantity at these low prices is currently on the low end. There's roughly 70 ORB Boosters currently listed in the price range of roughly $14-$15 USD. After that we start to see some substantial price increases.

Conclusion:

As you can see (historically) it pays to invest in Boosters. Those who have are likely laughing all the way to their virtual bank. Other assests in Splinterlands have experienced the same price jumps. Land which was once sold for $20 USD a plot is now being sold for roughly $30 USD on Steem-Engine. Even the Splinterlands blog token SPT has seen a price jump as of recently.

Will the price of these Splinterlands assests continue to rise??? I think so but I'm no financial guru nor do I give investment advice. Always do your own research and never invest more than you are comfortable with losing. All sell orders are screen shots taken from the Hive-Engine exchange on the date of 6/18/2021. Price of boosters and the Hive-Engine listed supply of each edition are subject to change depending on the markets supply and demand.
