Everyone has probably noticed by now that the value of Splinterlands' playing cards has increased enormously.
In order to see just how extreme the current development in value is, it is worth examining individual cards and their development in value.
This morning I found a nice example. On 15.1.2020 I brought my Beetle Queen to level 8 (max). This card was worth about 5$ at that time. It was a reward card. It was in the normal Lootchests and every player had the chance to collect it for free as long as it was printed.

If you listened to me back then, you can now enjoy an extreme increase in value. You wouldn't believe what this card is worth today. Ten times? Ha. Twenty times? Nope. Thirty times? Nope.
Assuming a price of $6, the value of the Queen Beetle has increased by a whopping 3083%. It is thirty-one times what it was worth a year and a half ago. A buyer today has to fork out $191 for a maximum level card.
Whether that value can be realised? That is questionable. But the data suggests that some queens change hands at that value.
By the way, those who like me are attached to their cards and don't want to sell them could at least rent them out.
Currently, the queen is rented out at maximum level for 50 DEC per day. That is about 0.25$. The 6$ for the purchase would already be recouped after 4 weeks of renting.
The Beetle Queen is certainly not the only card that has increased in value so massively. There are cards whose value has increased many times more. The Exploding Dwarf, for example.
I can't say how sustainable the current prices are. They are probably much too high and the cards will become cheaper again. On the other hand, the number of cards is limited. We have over 35,000 active daily players today and it's getting more every day. In contrast, there can be a maximum of 807 Beetle Queens at maximum level. And many players don't give away their card, almost at any price. For example, I won't give away my queen for $200.

Um zu sehen, wie krass die Wertentwicklung aktuell ist, lohnt es sich einzelne Karten und deren Wertentwicklung zu untersuchen.

Wer damals auf mich gehört hat, kann sich inzwischen über eine extreme Wertsteigerung freuen. Ihr glaubt nicht, was diese Karte heute wert ist. Das Zehnfache? Ha. Das Zwanzigfache? Nö. Das Dreißigfache? Auch nicht.
Geht man von einem Preis von 6 $ aus, hat sich der Wert der Käferkönigin um sagenhafte 3083% gesteigert. Sie ist einunddreißig Mal so wie Wert wie vor anderthalb Jahren. Ein Käufer muss heute 191$ für eine Karte auf Maximalstufe hinblättern.
Ob man diesen Wert realiseren kann? Das ist fraglich. Aber die Daten lassen den Schluss zu, dass einige Königinnen zu diesem Wert den Besitzer wechseln.
Wer wie ich an seinen Karten hängt und sie nicht verkaufen möchte, könnte sie übrigens zumindest vermieten.
Aktuell wird die Königin auf Maximallevel für 50 DEC pro Tag vermietet. Das sind circa 0,25$. Die 6$ für den Kauf, hätte man heute also schon nach 4 Wochen Vermietung wieder drin.
Die Beetle Queen ist mit Sicherheit nicht die einzige Karte, die eine so massiven Wertzuwachs hingelegt hat. Es gibt Karten, deren Wert noch um ein Vielfaches mehr gestiegen ist. Der Exploding Dwarf zb.
Wie nachhaltig die aktuellen Preise sind, kann ich nicht sagen. Vermutlich sind sie viel zu hoch und die Karten werden wieder billiger. Andererseits ist die Anzahl der Karten begrenzt. Wir haben heute über 35.000 aktive tägliche Spieler und es werden täglich mehr. Demgegenüber kann es maximal 807 Beetle Queens auf Maximallevel geben. Und viele Spieler geben ihre Karte, fast egal zu welchem Preis nicht her. Ich gebe meine Queen zum Beispiel nicht für 200$ her.
