Hodl and Invest! Why we can't!

The expression between a rock and a hard place is very apt for our current situation!

Introduction!

I registered the @papilloncharity blog on Steemit in June 2017.
Since then we have hodld and never took a powerdown, facing many difficult times to survive with the charity. We never bought a vote, or invested in any luxurious offers, as my task was to try and create a foundation for the charity's future existence.
I deviated from the norm to also place posts of nature to break the monotony of only placing charity posts. Hard and honest work resulted in our growth over time.
But then the unexpected took place. Steemit was sold and a hardfork resulted in the new Hive!

This is a home for poor seniors that Papillon is currently supporting and we also run other community empowering projects.

The problem!

Almost in tandem with the new Hive creation, the Covid-19 virus invaded the world and we including Papillon were placed in a lockdown. Now we were facing not even our own situation, but also a flood of calls for help by other organizations and even churches.
Very quickly our resources dried up to such an extent that we are no longer able to help.
Added to this is the new mountain of desperate people that are suffering due to the lockdown with their normal income being shut down by stringent rules.

A temporary solution!

We have decided to powerdown our total in Steemit, which is now in progress; and also to powerdown a bit of our current Hive level. This should supply us with temporary relief until the lockdown is removed and things will slowly start being returned to normal.
Therefore, we are in the sad situation that we cannot hodl anymore and we also are not in the fortunate situation to invest in anything.
At least it will keep our charity work going and we can only pray that matters will improve. I know it is a tough situation, but we are used to sacrifices.

A great thank you to all of the special people that support us here online!
