Ayer bajé un rato a la ciudad. Mi esposa tenía cita con el odontólogo y me pidió que la acompañara. Como sé que allí se puede pasar un largo rato generalmente me llevo una lectura en el cell para leer mientras esperamos, en ocasiones han pasado hasta cuatro horas para ser atendidos. Pero ayer se trataba de una consulta rápida y teníamos la esperanza de no tardarnos mucho. Y en efecto así fue, apenas estuvimos unos cuarenta minutos.
Al salir la tarde estaba radiante, así que decidimos dar una vuelta por Maracay a ver si conseguíamos algunas buenas imágenes para fotografiar; desde que estamos acá en HIVE nos ha dado por tomar fotos de todas las cosas que hacemos.
La primera parada la hicimos en las cercanías del Centro Comercial Las Américas. Desde hace un tiempo había querido detenerme allí para admirar unos murales muy bonitos que han pintado en un sector de la avenida. Este tipo de obras tiene el inconveniente de que se daña rápidamente y más de una vez me ha pasado que no hago las fotos en el momento adecuado, y cuando vuelvo de nuevo los murales se han deteriorado. Pero estos no se me escaparon.
Mi esposa tenía en mente hacer un reportaje sobre Halloween y nos dedicamos a buscar imágenes para ilustrarlo, en eso pasamos un buen rato, pero a diferencia de otros años había muy pocas decoraciones sobre el tema, me imagino que con todo este asunto de la pandemia se le quita un poco la motivación a la gente para decorar sus negocios. Sin embargo, en una zona de supermercados tenían unas calaveras muy atractivas, pedimos permiso al encargado e hicimos algunas tomas.
Aparcamos el carro y caminamos un rato por la isla central de la avenida, los maracayeros la llamamos la caminería. A mi esposa y a mí siempre nos parece impresionante cómo cambian las vistas en el lugar con las diferentes variaciones de luz, ese es un paseo que hacemos con mucho gusto. Uno puede recorrerla muchas veces y siempre habrá algún detalle que llame la atención.
Al final llegamos a la redoma del toro, la intención era aprovechar la luz de la tarde para sacar algunas siluetas de la estatua, para los que quieran tener unas fotos más definidas les recomiendo las horas de la mañana, son las ideales en ese lugar.
Sin darnos cuenta nos dieron casi tres horas dando vueltas por aquí y por allá, solo con la excusa de estar tomando algunas fotos y de hacer algo diferente. Es una maravilla cuando uno puede hacer las cosas sin apresuramientos, por el simple placer de disfrutarlas.
Cada día me convenzo más de la importancia de cultivar la lentitud, de prestarle atención a los detalles, de tomarnos un tiempo donde nos dediquemos a dejarnos ir, relajados, sin rollos, enfocados en el instante. Un pequeño paseo como este, que para muchos puede ser intrascendente, es más que suficiente para renovar el ánimo.

Yesterday I went down to the city for a while. My wife had an appointment with the dentist and asked me to go with her. Since I know it can be a long time there I usually take a reading on the cell to read while we wait, sometimes it has taken up to four hours to be seen. But yesterday it was a quick consultation and we hoped it wouldn't take too long. And indeed we did, we were only there for about forty minutes.
When we left the afternoon was radiant, so we decided to take a walk around Maracay to see if we could get some good pictures to photograph; since we have been here at HIVE we have been taking pictures of everything we do.
The first stop we made was near the Las Americas Shopping Center. For some time I had wanted to stop there to admire some very nice murals that have been painted in a sector of the avenue. This type of work has the disadvantage that it gets damaged quickly and more than once it has happened to me that I do not take the photos at the right time, and when I return again the murals have deteriorated. But these did not escape me.
My wife had in mind to do a report on Halloween and we spent some time looking for images to illustrate it, but unlike other years there were very few decorations on the theme, I imagine that with all this pandemic business it takes away a little motivation for people to decorate their businesses. However, in a supermarket area they had some very attractive skulls, we asked the manager for permission and took some shots.
We parked the car and walked for a while along the central island of the avenue, the Maracayeros call it the caminería. My wife and I always find it impressive how the views change with the different variations of light, this is a walk that we do with pleasure. You can walk it many times and there will always be some detail that catches your attention.
Finally we arrived at the redoma del toro, the intention was to take advantage of the afternoon light to take some silhouettes of the statue, for those who want to have more defined photos I recommend the morning hours, they are ideal in that place.
Without realizing it, we spent almost three hours walking around here and there, just with the excuse of taking some pictures and doing something different. It is wonderful when you can do things without rushing, just for the pleasure of enjoying them.
Every day I am more and more convinced of the importance of cultivating slowness, of paying attention to details, of taking time to let ourselves go, relaxed, without rushing, focused on the moment. A little walk like this, which for many may be inconsequential, is more than enough to renew the mood.
