The enormous passion with which Kentaro Miura made Berserk is unquestionable. Although he worked on and participated in the elaboration of other excellent manga, he put his best cards in this work. All that effort resulted in one of the most spectacular manga works ever made.
Hardly anyone can create a story in the dark fantasy genre without owing something to the author of Berserk. Kentaro Miura managed to capture his innovative ideas in great detail and carefully polished the ones he borrowed. He amalgamated a wide range of narrative elements in a sublime way and knew how to accompany them with gorgeous and disturbing art.
Some think that it was the demands of developing such a complex work, with the pace it initially took, that ended up taking such a toll on him. Everything seems to indicate that his fragile health progressively prevented Miura from completing Berserk.
