....... was in hindsight not such a clever idea after all as we drove round and round the overfull carpark. It seemed that hundreds of fun loving Sunday social adventurers had decided on the same plan only they were smart enough to arrive early.
I started visualising finding a needle in a haystack only to be interrupted with Ben's hopeful question, Are you asking your parking angels? Started talking to them last night Ben, and in a twinkle of an eye a car pulled out of a park right in front of us.
With a little thank you to the never let me down very reliable angels we were out of the car in a flash. Only to join cheery Sunday goers downing some cold ales and eating their food already. Getting to the Savvy Squire Hotel early definitely has its advantages. Another life lesson learned! Arrive early!
The little parking frenzy experience was quickly forgotten when I looked at the view from our table positioned inside the open door. This must be the reason why so many people visit this wharf. It is simply gorgeous.
And the better view when I walked outside to take a pic. It was lovely hearing the happy chatting and laughter filling the air.
Lunch was a typical hardy pub type of food, filling and tasty.
It is a tourist mecca with the variety of water activities on the offering. Who wouldn't want to go snorkelling with the whales or enjoying a leisurely trip on the waterways for an hour or two?
It must be particularly enjoyable for those yacht owners to moor near the wharf to wallow in the atmosphere alternating between spending time on their sizeable boats, sightseeing, walk and eating at the variety of restaurants/cafes available. Such a magnificent way to wile away the time at Mooloolaba Wharf! Good on them, hope they are living life to the fullest.
This seafood restaurant is going to be our must go place at the next meet up which will probably be arranged for a week day and definitely not a Sunday. That should make finding a park easier for us and the parking angels....... or maybe not.
Our beautiful Sunday was a complete opposite to the country drive from last Sunday. Although hugely different both were fabulously energising. Variety is the spice of life and anyway how are we ever going to know what sublime feels like unless we experience as much as we can?
PS: Mooloolaba Wharf is located at the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland. A lot of tourists visit the Sunshine Coast and completely understandable why they do. It has beautiful warmer weather than the colder southern Australian States. I can assure you that it is a wonderful place to live hence why the population is growing at a great speed of knots. Come visiting sometime when the world opens again, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.
