Hola Hive México, les envió un gran abrazo a toda la comunidad y hoy me presento ante ustedes con mi participación en el concurso Contra Reloj, en esta ocasión la temática gira en torno a Inventos que cambiaron al mundo y espero les guste el que les traje para hablar, el invento más importante en la medicina moderna y sanidad publica en combinado, las alcantarillas.
Hello Hive Mexico, I send a big hug to the whole community, and today, I present myself to you with my participation in the contest Against the clock, , this time the theme revolves around Inventions that changed the world and I hope you like the one I brought you to talk about, the most important invention in modern medicine and public health in combined, the Sewers.
Para hablar de este tema sin ningún mal olor, les recomiendo que se pongan un buen tapabocas, puesto que desde un inicio las alcantarillas han cumplido con variados propósitos, si bien los grandes pueblos como el griego y los romanos nos dieron alcantarillas, estas eran poco más que un desagüe para potenciales inundaciones, para evitar muertes por daños directos y proveer de agua potable a las ciudades.
To talk about this subject without any bad smell, I recommend you to put on a good mask**, since from the beginning sewers have served varied purposes, although great peoples like the Greeks and Romans gave us sewers, these were little more than drainage for potential floods, to avoid deaths from direct damage and to provide potable water to the cities.

Pero fue el pueblo de la India o mejor dicho, la civilización del valle Indo que giraba en torno a Harappa quien en plena era de bronce descubrieron que ciertas enfermedades giraban en torno a los residuos humanos, y que si querían contra restarles, tenían que crear un sistema, del cual tenemos evidencia arqueológica desde hace unos cincuenta años.
But it was the people of India or rather, the Indus Valley civilization revolving around Harappa. Esta cultura fue la primera en crear lo que hoy conocemos como sistemas cloacales y la primera en usar ese conocimiento para luchar contra las enfermedades y apoyar la salud publica, eran comparables al pueblo Egipto y Mesopotámico y eran sus compañeros de negocios, aprendieron de los Mesopotámicos en termino de agricultura y ganadería; de Egipto el sistema de regado, sin embargo al igual que estas dos, perecieron por fuertes sequías y guerras con otras culturas.
This culture was the first to create what we know today as sewage systems and the first to use that knowledge to fight disease and support public health, they were comparable to the Egyptian and Mesopotamian people and were their business partners, they learned from the Mesopotamians in terms of agriculture and animal husbandry; from Egypt the irrigation system, however like these two, they perished from severe droughts and wars with other cultures.

La invención del alcantarillado no volvería a ver su importante rol en la historia, hasta la era de la modernidad europea, donde eventos como la gran peste de Londres en la cual el cólera*, la fiebre tifoidea y otras enfermedades causadas por los residuos humanos destrozaron con incontables vidas y llevo a la construcción del extenso alcantarillado Londinense.
The invention of the sewer would not see its important role in history again, until the era of European modernity, where events such as the great plague of London in which cholera, typhoid fever* and other diseases caused by human waste wrecked countless lives and led to the construction of the extensive London* sewer.
Irónicamente, esa pandemia de cólera fue traída a Londres por culpa de sus colonias en el territorio Indu donde ya estaban luchando contra brotes controlados de cólera en 1817, los cuales se esparcieron a todo el continente europeo por la movilización de tropas y bienes extraídos o comerciados desde la india colonial.
Ironically, that cholera pandemic was brought to London because of its colonies in Indian territory where they were already fighting controlled outbreaks of cholera in 1817, which spread to the entire European continent by the mobilization of troops and goods extracted or traded from colonial India.
Si bien la correcta implementación de un sistema de cloacas es básico para toda metrópolis moderna, muchos subestiman cuántas vidas se salvan con ello, un buen sistema de cloacas puede salvar decenas de miles de vidas por año y detener endemias de parásitos y otras enfermedades.
While proper implementation of a sewer system is basic to every modern metropolis, many underestimate how many lives are saved by it, a good sewer system can save tens of thousands of lives per year and stop endemics of parasites and other diseases.

Es por esto que considero que es una gran invención e idea que cambio al mundo, nos presentó una oportunidad de crear las metrópolis modernas y junto a la electricidad se volvió parte esencial de la vida urbana y sin ella el sistema de vida urbano colapsaría.
This is why I consider it a great invention and idea that changed the world, presented us with an opportunity to create the modern metropolis and together with electricity became an essential part of urban life and without it, the urban living system would collapse.
